Lin Wan Ning got up and approached Hu Yu Ying from behind. Her delicate hand gently kneaded the muscles of Hu Yu Ying's back and shoulders, finally resting on her waist. Leaning in slightly, she whispered softly in her ear, "I got up last night to drink water, but I didn’t see my sister."
Hu Yu Ying's earlobes suddenly flushed red as she glanced up at Wan Ning. "I have a big class today!"
As she spoke, she stretched her waist. Sometimes, despite her determination, she felt utterly exhausted. That stubbornness, even after all this time, was still a bit overwhelming.
"How about I give you a back rub while you lie on the bed, sister?" Lin Wan Ning chuckled, knowing full well how much Hu Yu Ying had been through.
As she said this, she lifted her shirt, revealing the red marks on her slender waist, evidence of the previous night's exertions.
Hu Yu Ying twisted her waist slightly. "No need."
That would be too embarrassing.
As they walked downstairs, Hu Yu Ying still felt a bit uneasy and decided to call Long Ao Tian to check if he was up yet.
Fortunately, the phone rang only three times before it was answered.
"Good morning, my little girl," came the lazy, satisfied voice of the man on the other end.
Without saying a word, Hu Yu Ying hung up the phone. That rascal Long Ge really had no idea how much training he went through at school every day, yet he still had so much energy!
"Why don’t you just go home and check on him?"
The hotel was nearby, so it wouldn’t take long to get back.
"I don’t want to go back." Remembering how she had told him to wait last night, only for him to ignore her, she felt a surge of frustration. She regretted not giving him a couple of extra swats on the backside this morning!
Seeing the resentment on Hu Yu Ying's face when she mentioned Long Ao Tian, Li Qing Xue couldn’t help but laugh. She took off her scarf and wrapped it around Hu Yu Ying's neck. "Alright, I’ll help you punish Long Ao Tian another day!"
At this, Hu Yu Ying felt her anger dissipate a little. "In three days, it’ll be the Winter Solstice. When you come home, I’ll make dumplings for you."
"Great! We’ll come early to help you make them," the two girls chimed in unison. "And we won’t let him have any."
Hu Yu Ying pursed her lips, not agreeing outright. After all, Long Ge hadn’t been too unreasonable; he could have a little.
"Look at that! We haven’t even said we won’t let him eat, and you’re already reluctant," Lin Wan Ning teased.
"That’s not true..." Hu Yu Ying protested weakly. "Maybe I’ll just let him eat a little less..."
"Looks like it’s true what they say: a man is always cherished by his own family," Li Qing Xue laughed.
Hu Yu Ying, who was naturally not very talkative, found herself at a loss against the two of them. She immediately reached out to tickle them.
The three of them playfully raced into the subway station.
"I’m getting off first," Lin Wan Ning said to Hu Yu Ying and Li Qing Xue. "Let’s plan to meet again soon."
After leaving the subway station, Lin Wan Ning walked along the road to the music academy.
She instinctively lowered her chin, burying half her face in her scarf. The weather was particularly cold today. Looking up at the sky, she wondered, "I wonder when it will snow."
She loved rainy and snowy days, always feeling that such weather made her particularly comfortable.
But this gloomy weather wasn’t too bad either.
Sniffling, she quickened her pace a little.
...
"Hehehe, last night we played rock-paper-scissors, and you lost. You let me have my way one more time. Why aren’t you happy about it?" Ye Liang Chen said, his mood bright as he looked at the sulking Xue Shao Hua.
"You clearly played slower than I did," Xue Shao Hua shot him a resentful glance.
Last night, they had played three rounds, each taking one turn, which was supposed to be fair. But Ye Liang Chen had deliberately played slowly once, resulting in Xue Shao Hua being at a disadvantage!
"Alright, alright, I’ll go easier next time," Ye Liang Chen conceded, knowing he had been a bit of a cheat.
Just then, he noticed someone approaching from a distance.
Seeing the person, the smile on Ye Liang Chen's face froze slightly.
Xue Shao Hua was hoping to hear more sweet talk from him, but instead, she saw him momentarily stunned.
Following his gaze, she spotted a tall, graceful girl.
Half of the girl’s face was hidden beneath her scarf, but it couldn’t conceal her beauty; instead, it added an air of coolness and mystery. Her beauty was like a snow lotus blooming atop an ice mountain, pure and untouched by the mundane world.
It was Lin Wan Ning. Xue Shao Hua had seen her before, more than once. That ethereal, otherworldly aura was hard to forget after just one encounter.
Ye Liang Chen chuckled softly, then confidently tossed his hair back.
He had come here three times with lyrics in hand, hoping to find Lin Wan Ning, but had never encountered her.
Who would have thought that on a whim, he would book a room nearby last night, and now, early in the morning, he would finally see the one person he had longed to meet but had never crossed paths with...
