Chapter 287

When the time comes, after I’ve subdued Long Ao Tian and tasted his flavor, I must persuade him to be a better person and not to act recklessly anymore!

Ding dong~

The notification sound from her phone rang out.

Li Qingxue glanced at her phone, and the smile on her face instantly vanished.

“What’s wrong?”

Seeing Li Qingxue, who had been grinning just a moment ago, suddenly frowning, Lin Wan Ning asked softly.

Li Qingxue placed her phone in front of Lin Wan Ning: “Look, it’s Ye Liangchen.”

On the screen was a friend request from Ye Liangchen: 【Qingxue, you know I’m a knight only to protect the princess. I’m the only one in this world who truly cares for you. Don’t be sad or upset; it’s not worth it for someone like that!】

“Honestly, there’s one thing I’ve never understood: why does Ye Liangchen keep pestering us?” Lin Wan Ning couldn’t wrap her head around it.

“He thinks we’re already Long Ao Tian’s people, yet he still tries to get close to us. Does he have some kind of special obsession?”

They had already rejected him several times in front of him, yet he still carried himself with such self-importance. It was baffling to understand what was going on in his mind.

“If you ask me, I don’t know either. He wasn’t like this before, but now... sigh, I don’t even know what to say anymore...”

Especially after realizing that the photos Ye Liangchen had were intentional, her prejudice against him deepened.

She had initially wanted to pretend she hadn’t seen it, but Ye Liangchen kept sending messages.

He reminisced about their beautiful past, recounting their nine years of companionship.

The less said, the better.

Li Qingxue felt that Ye Liangchen had the least right to bring up the past.

He was the one who first suggested they be friends, and he was the one who gradually wore down their nine-year friendship.

He even claimed he wanted to redeem himself—not just for himself, but also for Hu Yuying and Lin Wan Ning.

He didn’t need to redeem himself; he had already started insulting the three of them.

Now, he was resorting to underhanded tactics, using Shen Mengjie to take fabricated photos to get closer to her. Did he really think she was oblivious to his little schemes?

Wasn’t he just trying to entangle her?

In the past, she had focused solely on her studies, believing that she had to be responsible for every stage of her life, so she was naive about love.

But once she truly liked someone, that naive affection became real, and it brought her joy.

It wasn’t about being deliberate.

It wasn’t just words; it was about genuine actions.

Everything Long Ao Tian did was unforced; he simply hoped for the best for the three of them from the bottom of his heart.

So she could deeply relate to it and found herself irresistibly drawn in.

But everything Ye Liangchen did was merely talk.

In comparison, what made him think he was indispensable?

Chapter 350: Should I Go Wash the Vegetables?

She tucked her phone into her pocket, choosing to ignore him.

As long as she understood what was going on, the rest was unnecessary.

Instead of wasting time bickering with Ye Liangchen, they had already arrived at Hu Yuying’s house.

“Shall we go find Yuying? It feels especially cold today,” Li Qingxue said, shivering and pulling her neck in.

Lin Wan Ning instinctively shook her head. She thought that Yuying probably had a lot to say to Long Ao Tian right now, and it wouldn’t be appropriate for her and Qingxue to go.

“What’s wrong?” Li Qingxue asked.

Lin Wan Ning pondered for a moment and said, “We can’t keep interrupting their little world, can we?”

“After all, your brother has a lot of energy. Who knows, they might be... you know...”

Li Qingxue squinted her eyes, a mischievous smile creeping onto her lips. “Wan Ning, you’re really good at this kind of teasing.”

But thinking about it, ever since Long Ao Tian rented the place, they had practically established a base there every weekend.

Over time, they had come to see that place as home.

Yet they had overlooked the fact that Long Ao Tian and Hu Yuying also needed their own space.

With the thought of finding Yuying gone, she suddenly realized there seemed to be nowhere else to go.

Returning to the school dorm would be a waste of this beautiful weekend.

She tightened her clothes and sniffed her cold, red nose. “How about we just get a room?”

Lin Wan Ning thought that was a great idea; she didn’t want to go back to the dorm either.

The dorm was crowded, and although she had been getting along well with her roommates lately, it still wouldn’t be as comfortable as having a room to themselves.

Just as they were about to head to get a room, their phones suddenly buzzed at the same time.

Lin Wan Ning pulled out her phone to check; it was a group chat with the three of them.

Hu Yuying: @Wan Ning, @Qingxue, come home for lunch.

Seeing this message, Li Qingxue beamed and said, “See? I knew Yuying wouldn’t forget us.”

Her heart was set on helping Yuying teach Long Ao Tian a lesson. That scoundrel, cheating on Wan Ning, huh? Just wait until I’m done with you; let’s see if you dare to cheat again. You’re only allowed to treat Yuying well.

Lin Wan Ning held her phone to her chest and looked up at the sky. It was cold today, but her heart felt warm.

It was as if a lost person had suddenly found their way.

They often mooched meals, and after some discussion, they decided to take on the grocery shopping duties.

Looking at the ingredients and prices Yuying had sent, Li Qingxue covered her mouth and chuckled. “Yuying is way too frugal.”

Lin Wan Ning poked her forehead with her finger. “You wouldn’t know how expensive groceries are if you weren’t in charge.”

“Being like this is what it means to truly live,” she said.

Li Qingxue blinked. “Sister?”

“Why are you so surprised? We’ve received so much care; isn’t it only right to call me sister?” Lin Wan Ning’s ears turned a bit red, but she still managed to say it with confidence.

“Then I’ll bake cookies for you in the future, and you have to call me sister too, or I won’t give you any. You’ll just be a silly noodle-eating Wan Ning,” Li Qingxue said, relieved that she could bake cookies, which was a step up from just knowing how to make instant noodles.

“I’ll tickle you! You always tease me about only knowing how to make noodles!” Lin Wan Ning said, reaching out to poke her.

After being tormented by her brother yesterday, Li Qingxue had recovered overnight, and this time, she was no match for Lin Wan Ning. She burst into giggles, begging for mercy.

It wasn’t until they got into a taxi that Lin Wan Ning finally let Li Qingxue go.

“Wan Ning, just wait! One day, you’ll regret everything you did to me today!” Li Qingxue huffed, still annoyed that she hadn’t let her off the hook even after she begged.

“I’ll be waiting for that day, but you better hurry up; otherwise, I might forget,” Lin Wan Ning teased, poking Li Qingxue’s cheek.

Seeing that Lin Wan Ning didn’t take it to heart, Li Qingxue couldn’t help but snort softly.

She thought to herself, when you two are caught in the act, I’ll catch you red-handed. Just wait until I spank you and step on Long Ao Tian’s face...

“If only we had met earlier.” She really, really loved being with Yuying and Qingxue.

Li Qingxue huffed, “I wouldn’t want to meet you any earlier.” She then tucked her short hair behind her ear. “But I wouldn’t mind borrowing someone’s shoulder to lean on.”

“Such a tsundere!” Lin Wan Ning shot her a glance but couldn’t help but chuckle as she slowly leaned on Li Qingxue’s shoulder.

Feeling Lin Wan Ning resting on her shoulder, Li Qingxue turned her head to look out the window, her smile radiating warmth.

Before long, they arrived at the market near Yuying’s house. Since she had come here with Yuying before, she knew the way.

“How much for this vegetable?”

“One fifty.”

Upon hearing the price, Li Qingxue and Lin Wan Ning exchanged glances.

Then they whispered, “Other places only sell it for one thirty...”

After saying that, they couldn’t help but sneak a glance at the vegetable vendor.

Seeing the two pretty young girls whispering and glancing at him, the vendor chuckled. “It’s cold, so prices are going up, but for you two, let’s just say it’s one thirty...”

After picking up the vegetables and paying, the two of them walked away, high-fiving each other. “We haggled successfully!”

“Yay~ We’re so awesome!”

Happily carrying their groceries, they headed back to their rented place.

There wasn’t much to celebrate about haggling, but succeeding on their first try made them really happy.

They pushed open the door and walked into the courtyard.

Li Qingxue couldn’t shake the feeling that today’s atmosphere was a bit inexplicably tense.
