Chapter 2

Though his reputation wasn't the best, in all honesty, before the female lead transferred in, the original character, Long Ao Tian, had never bullied any girls.

After some thought, he decided to clarify things.

After all, he was no longer the malicious male supporting character from the original story, and he didn't want to leave a bad impression on the female lead.

"Classmate Hu Yu Ying, don’t be scared. I’m not a bad person—uh, I mean, I’m not a bad guy. I’m actually quite kind and would never mistreat a girl. You can rest easy!"

Long Ao Tian's words left Hu Yu Ying feeling a bit puzzled.

But she couldn't quite put her finger on what was strange about it.

All she could do was timidly nod and give a soft "mm."

Seeing her nod, Long Ao Tian felt satisfied and thought to himself, "Great! Overall, it seems the female lead's impression of me has improved."

In the original book, the female lead completely ignored anything the original Long Ao Tian said.

Now, the fact that she could nod at him and even murmur a response made Long Ao Tian quite pleased!

"Well, you can continue listening to the class. I need to study hard too," he said, pretending to flip through his textbook.

Upon hearing this, Hu Yu Ying quietly glanced at Long Ao Tian, seemingly afraid of being caught, and quickly averted her gaze.

Yet, her small hand gripping the pen tightened unconsciously.

After a moment of hesitation, she softly said, "Classmate, this is Chinese class. You’ve got the wrong book."

"Ah?" Long Ao Tian looked at the math book in his hands. "No wonder it felt off."

He quickly pulled out the Chinese textbook and smiled at Hu Yu Ying. "Thanks!"

"No need to thank me, it’s nothing," she replied, perhaps amused by Long Ao Tian's slightly foolish behavior. Her beautiful eyes curved into crescent shapes, and she spoke with less restraint than before.

Long Ao Tian stared at Hu Yu Ying, whose eyes sparkled with innocence, momentarily lost in thought.

Her eyes were captivating, bright as if they held all the beauty and dreams of the world.

With a gentle smile, she radiated tranquility and purity, evoking an instinctive urge to tease her!

It would be best to make her cry, to see her eyes redden, her delicate features glistening like a pear blossom in the rain—how utterly endearing...

Realizing this, Long Ao Tian quickly shook his head. That thought was far too dangerous and needed to be banished immediately!

There was no denying it; Hu Yu Ying looked far too easy to bully.

Taking a deep breath, he focused his gaze back on his textbook.

In his past life, Long Ao Tian had grown up in an orphanage, where merely surviving was a challenge.

To make a living and support himself, he dropped out of high school early and entered the workforce.

Ultimately, lacking an education left him with no choice but to do manual labor.

After struggling through life, he finally landed a sales job, only to find himself transported into this story on his first day!

Though he had no idea why he had crossed into this book, it undeniably offered him another chance at education.

This time, he was determined to seize the opportunity!

Three minutes later, as Hu Yu Ying diligently took notes, she frowned slightly upon hearing a faint snore.

Glancing up, she noticed the classmate who had spoken to her earlier was now asleep at his desk.

She looked at Long Ao Tian, then quickly glanced at the teacher at the podium, fearing that this sleeping classmate might suddenly be called out.

When the bell finally rang, Hu Yu Ying let out a breath she didn’t realize she was holding.

Once the homeroom teacher left the classroom, the noise level rose.

Being an introverted girl, Hu Yu Ying found it hard to blend in, especially since she had just transferred. Watching others chat happily with their friends, she felt unsure of how to join in.

So, she quietly sat in her seat.

Similarly, the other students were curious about the new girl.

Seeing Hu Yu Ying sitting quietly, looking shy and obedient, a few lively girls approached her. "Hi there! I’m Li Qian. Can we be friends?"

At those words, Hu Yu Ying's eyes sparkled with uncontainable joy.

Her lips curved into a gentle smile, revealing a shallow dimple on her left cheek, radiating the innocent charm of youth.

Her warmth seemed to be etched into her very being.

"You’re really cute! Can I be your friend too?" a chubby boy with a darker complexion said, staring at Hu Yu Ying with a silly grin.

Hu Yu Ying was taken aback for a moment, hesitated, then nodded. She hadn’t expected to make so many friends on her first day.

"You agreed? Then you’re my girlfriend now!" the chubby boy grinned widely.

At this, Hu Yu Ying's smile faltered, and she looked up at the boy, her beautiful eyes filled with confusion, exuding a kind of adorable naivety.

It seemed she didn’t quite grasp the meaning behind the chubby boy's words.

"Wang Shuo, if you keep talking nonsense, I’ll tell the teacher!" Li Qian glared at Wang Shuo, her eyes filled with disdain.

"Pfft, what else can you do besides tell the teacher? Besides, she said she wanted to be friends with me," he shot back, casting a lingering glance at Hu Yu Ying before swaggering off toward the boys' restroom.

"Just ignore people like him. If he bothers you, go tell the teacher," Li Qian said, shooting a disapproving look at Wang Shuo's retreating figure.

Seeing Hu Yu Ying’s soft demeanor, looking so easy to bully and utterly clueless, Li Qian continued, "Remember, there are two people in this class you should avoid: one is Wang Shuo, and the other..."

At this point, Li Qian fell silent, simply pointing to Long Ao Tian, who was still asleep by the aisle, right in front of the trash can.

"In every class, there are troublemakers who don’t study. Wang Shuo is one, and he is too."

"But he’s worse than Wang Shuo; he actually knows how to throw a punch. Wang Shuo has been beaten by him before."

Following Li Qian's words, Hu Yu Ying glanced at Long Ao Tian, who was snoring and drooling.

"Got it?"

"Mm-hmm, got it."

**Chapter 3: If You Don't Like Him, Pick Someone You Do**

Seeing Hu Yu Ying agree, Li Qian invited her to go to the restroom together.

I don’t know why, but girls always seem to prefer going to the restroom in groups.

On the way, Li Qian also introduced Hu Yu Ying to the dynamics of their class.

There wasn’t much to say; aside from a few bad apples, the class atmosphere was quite pleasant.

As they headed to the restroom, they happened to run into Wang Shuo coming back.

"Hu Yu Ying, fancy seeing you again," he said, having previously teased her and now realizing she was too timid to fight back. He couldn’t resist the urge to continue his antics.

In response to Wang Shuo's words, Hu Yu Ying pressed her lips together, pretending not to hear, and averted her gaze, silently walking past him.

That was just how Hu Yu Ying was; she couldn’t bring herself to retaliate.

So when faced with someone she disliked, she would remain silent and act as if they didn’t exist.

In high school, at the age of seventeen or eighteen, maintaining face was of utmost importance.

Being ignored in front of so many people made Wang Shuo’s expression darken.

After all, he was one of the prominent figures in his senior year. Even if a girl scolded him, outsiders would see it as him flirting!

But being outright ignored made him feel like he was losing face.

Back in the classroom, he walked around, and as he passed by Hu Yu Ying’s desk, he slowed down and casually knocked her pencil case off the table.

With a nonchalant smile, he returned to his seat.

When Hu Yu Ying returned to her desk, she found her pencil case on the floor, its contents scattered.

Being innocent, she assumed a classmate had accidentally knocked it over and hadn’t noticed.

So she bent down to pick up the scattered pens.

However, she noticed one pen had rolled under Long Ao Tian's desk, with part of it trapped under his foot.

Carefully, she tried to pull the pen out from under Long Ao Tian's foot.

Just then, a lazy voice came from above her: "What are you doing?"

Hu Yu Ying jumped, looking up at Long Ao Tian. When their eyes met, she instinctively lowered her head.

The words of Li Qian echoed in her mind: this person really could throw a punch.

If she woke him up, would he hit her?

So, feeling flustered, she explained, "The pen fell on the ground. I didn’t mean to wake you up."

Hearing Hu Yu Ying's words, Long Ao Tian glanced down at his feet.
