Chapter 16

"How could I still be her little sunshine?

So, I’m not just standing by; I’m simply waiting for the right moment.

In that instant, Ye Liangchen felt a wave of relief wash over him.

**Chapter 19: I’ll knock you down with one punch, and you won’t be able to get up. Believe it or not.**

Ye Liangchen felt the torment in his heart suddenly lift.

“I’m going to the restroom,” he said, seizing the opportunity before class started to head toward the bathroom at the end of the hallway.

As he passed by Class 7, he instinctively paused.

Peering inside, he saw Hu Yuying tidying up Long Aotian’s desk and moving her own chair next to his.

At that sight, Ye Liangchen clenched his teeth.

“Yuying, just wait. Once you’re completely engulfed in darkness, that’s when I’ll step in, transforming into the sun to pull you from the abyss.”

“Forgive me for having to stand by for now; forgive me for not being able to save you just yet.”

“But I will remember every evil Long Aotian has done to you, documenting it all clearly. One day, I’ll make him pay back a hundredfold.”

With that, he pulled out a notebook.

Flipping it open, he revealed several entries detailing Long Aotian’s misdeeds.

“Today, Long Aotian forced Hu Yuying to sit with him again. What a beast.”

He added a pig emoji next to the note.

The implication was clear: one day, he would make Long Aotian live with pigs, eating and sleeping alongside them.

Does he really enjoy forcing beautiful girls to sit with him?

Then let’s punish him by making him share a space with a sow!

After jotting down his thoughts, he cast a lingering glance at Hu Yuying, and his mood indeed brightened.

He felt he was helping her in his own way.

“I look forward to our next encounter,” he said, turning back toward his own class.

Having finished organizing her things, Hu Yuying felt someone watching her. Turning around, she caught a glimpse of Ye Liangchen exhaling deeply before happily walking away.

“What are you looking at?” Long Aotian followed her gaze but saw nothing, so he asked.

Hu Yuying shook her head. “Nothing.”

Then she recalled Long Aotian’s warning: *“If you see someone with a bad head, remember to steer clear of them in the future.”*

After moving her stool closer, Hu Yuying felt a surge of security as she sat down.

With an aisle separating them, it was inconvenient to teach Long Aotian.

So, Hu Yuying made a bold decision.

Without waiting for the teacher’s arrangement, she proactively moved her seat next to Long Aotian.

This decision might seem trivial to others.

But for Hu Yuying, making this choice took a lot of courage.

Though she had only spent a day with Long Aotian, she sensed a wealth of goodwill from him.

Whether it was genuine or not, Hu Yuying had her own judgment.

Having endured too much malice and insincerity, she could feel the difference.

At the very least, Long Aotian could help her avoid being bullied by others.

That’s how people are; after being oppressed for so long, they instinctively rely on those who extend a helping hand.

Because she knew this person wouldn’t bully her.

When someone is focused on a task, time always flies.

Whether it’s gaming or studying.

Before she knew it, it was lunchtime.

“Let’s go eat.”

Hearing this, Hu Yuying slowed her movements at the desk.

She smiled at Long Aotian. “I had too much to eat this morning; I’m not hungry yet.”

“Go ahead, Long Ge.”

Long Aotian looked at Hu Yuying. With over a decade of experience in society, he could easily guess what was on her mind.

But seeing the way she looked at him, he nodded.

“Alright then, I’ll go by myself.”

With that, he left the classroom.

Watching Long Aotian walk away, Hu Yuying turned her gaze back, biting her lip as she pulled out two steamed buns and some pickled vegetables from her backpack.

Ye Liangchen was right; she was indeed strapped for cash.

But Long Ge had already treated her to two meals yesterday, and she had intended to treat him to breakfast, only for him to pay instead.

Deep down, Hu Yuying didn’t want to trouble Long Aotian any further.

Just as she was about to open the bag of buns, her arm was suddenly grabbed. “Oh, look at you, sneaking off to eat delicious food without Long Ge! Gotcha!”

Turning around, she was surprised to see Long Aotian, who had already left. She froze for a moment, but hearing his words, she instinctively wanted to explain that this wasn’t anything special, and if she had something good to eat, she would definitely share it with him first.

“No, Long Ge, this isn’t anything special; it’s just steamed buns.”

“Daring to slack off while being my little follower? Hu Yuying, you’ve really got some guts.” Long Aotian said, his tone playful yet firm.

“Come with me.”

“Long Ge, I’m fine with this; I don’t want to go to the cafeteria.” Hu Yuying sat on her stool, glancing at Long Aotian but not daring to meet his eyes.

“You’re not going to listen to me? Do you believe I’ll knock you down?”

“Let’s go, you stingy brat!”

Hu Yuying looked up, her eyes flickering, then suddenly deflated, standing up to follow Long Aotian.

She mumbled under her breath, “I don’t want to keep bothering Long Ge…”

“What are you mumbling about? Hurry up and keep up.”

On the way to the cafeteria, Hu Yuying held her meal card, chatting away.

Long Aotian suddenly stopped, looking annoyed. “Can you not chatter in my ear? What will people think of me, Long Aotian?”

“Long Ge, I may be saving a bit, but I’m not greedy. I don’t want to keep taking advantage of you.”

“Stop talking. If this gets out, people will think I’m mistreating my little follower. Shut it, or I swear I’ll knock you down so hard you won’t be able to get up!”

“But I’d feel embarrassed.” Hu Yuying looked at Long Aotian’s large fist, feeling a bit flustered.

Seeing her big, watery eyes blinking at him, looking so pitiful, it was hard not to feel protective.

Even Long Aotian couldn’t help but pinch her cheek. “You need to learn how to be thick-skinned. Why is your skin still so thin?”

Soft and bouncy, he couldn’t resist giving it a few more squeezes.

“Looking all timid like that, don’t follow me around. I’d be embarrassed!”

Hu Yuying rubbed the spot where Long Aotian had pinched her; it didn’t hurt.

In fact, she felt her own skin growing thicker.

At the corner of the teaching building.

“Today, that damn Long Aotian wanted to punch Hu Yuying and even pinched her cheek.”

After writing this in his notebook, Ye Liangchen took a deep breath, suppressing his displeasure.

“Don’t worry, Yuying, I’ve noted everything down. I’ll remember all the suffering you’ve endured!”

**Chapter 20: Getting Involved**

Long Aotian opened the pickled vegetables and paired them with rice, enjoying his meal.

Initially, Hu Yuying thought Long Aotian wouldn’t be able to handle the pickled vegetables, but to her surprise, he was relishing them.

Could it be that Long Ge likes pickled vegetables?

Not entirely.

In his past life, Long Aotian, who had no one to rely on, managed to buy a car and a house all thanks to one principle.

“Save money.”

His diet mostly consisted of instant noodles and sausages, and on days when he craved something lighter, he’d add a pack of pickled vegetables.

After such a long time, eating pickled vegetables again felt surprisingly fresh.

“Long Ge, eat slowly. Otherwise, should I bring you some pickled vegetables on Monday?”

“Monday?” Long Aotian paused for a moment.

Then he realized today was Friday.

Even though they were in their senior year, they still had weekends off.

“Right, today’s Friday, so we’ll have a break tomorrow. I can bring you some on Monday, okay?”

Hu Yuying asked cautiously, worried that Long Aotian might refuse.

Long Aotian didn’t respond, lost in thought.

Seeing him silent, Hu Yuying hesitated before saying, “How about I bring them to you tomorrow?”

Long Ge was looking out for her, protecting her from being bullied. Now that he wanted some pickled vegetables, she definitely wanted to fulfill that wish.

Otherwise, she would feel guilty for all the meals he had treated her to.

“Can you help me with some studying today?” Long Aotian suddenly asked.

“Ah?” Hu Yuying didn’t expect such a sudden shift in conversation.

Weren’t they just talking about pickled vegetables? How did they jump to studying?

“Are you unwilling?” Long Aotian raised his fist, grinning playfully."
