Long Ao Tian seemed to have forgotten what had just happened, returning to his usual self.
Hu Yu Ying took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down.
It wasn’t that Hu Yu Ying was overly tangled in her thoughts.
After all, Long Ao Tian was an adult, and his mindset was beyond what someone her age could comprehend.
If it were a younger person witnessing... they would probably feel just as flustered as Hu Yu Ying did.
After all, he had long passed the age where one easily blushes.
Soon, Hu Yu Ying adjusted her mindset and stepped outside with a bowl in hand.
The morning air was fresh and still a bit chilly.
Sitting on the steps of the courtyard, sipping a bowl of lean meat porridge was just right.
After tidying up the bowl and chopsticks, it was already 6:40.
The two of them headed out to school.
Along the way, Hu Yu Ying remained quiet, zipping her school jacket all the way up.
“You look really strange like that,” Long Ao Tian said slowly.
Hu Yu Ying knew exactly what he meant; zipping it all the way up nearly covered her chin.
It did look a bit odd while walking.
“I... I didn’t know you were coming today, so I didn’t change after getting up,” Hu Yu Ying explained softly.
She wasn’t trying to be coy; it wasn’t intentional.
She could be misunderstood by anyone, but she didn’t want Long Ao Tian to misinterpret her...
“It’s fine, I didn’t see anything,” Long Ao Tian replied nonchalantly.
Hu Yu Ying bit her lip and glanced at Long Ao Tian, muttering softly, “You’re lying; I saw your ears turn red.”
Long Ao Tian stumbled slightly as he walked, nearly losing his balance.
Though Hu Yu Ying spoke quietly, Long Ao Tian had keen hearing!
He glanced back at the smooth ground and awkwardly said, “Who threw stones on the road? No sense of public decency at all.”
Then he raised a hand to cover his mouth and coughed twice, “What were you mumbling just now? I’ll give you a good thump!”
He wasn’t sure if it was because he had genuinely changed recently.
Or perhaps it was because Long Ao Tian had threatened to thump himself many times but never actually did.
He had been a bit scared before.
But now, he felt no fear at all.
Yet for some reason, he still instinctively played along with Long Ao Tian, pretending to be scared.
Seeing that Hu Yu Ying was still afraid of him, Long Ao Tian’s big brother aura surged back.
“Zip your jacket back to normal.”
Hu Yu Ying obediently adjusted the zipper to its usual position.
“Now it looks much better.”
Hu Yu Ying didn’t say anything, just quietly followed Long Ao Tian.
But the more obedient she was, the more it highlighted Long Ao Tian’s inner embarrassment.
But there was nothing he could do; perhaps this was just what being an adult was about—subconsciously stealing glances at beautiful things.
But if the other person was a girl with a psychological age ten years younger than him, it felt sinful.
Indeed, that was the mindset Long Ao Tian had now.
If it weren’t for his body having returned to an eighteen-year-old state, he might have been labeled a creepy uncle by now!
The problem was that there was no way to rationalize this.
Hu Yu Ying was only eighteen; if he downplayed it, he’d seem frivolous.
If he emphasized it, he’d fear affecting Hu Yu Ying’s future relationships with men.
So he could only resort to threats to distract Hu Yu Ying’s attention and mindset.
He had initially thought of tricking Hu Yu Ying to brush it off.
But unexpectedly, she had noticed even his ears turning red.
If he didn’t act a bit tougher, Long Ao Tian wouldn’t know how to face Hu Yu Ying.
Fortunately, this awkwardness didn’t last long.
Once they arrived at school, Hu Yu Ying seemed to have forgotten about the earlier incident.
She was back to guiding herself through her exercises.
As the class bell rang, the math teacher walked into the classroom with the test papers.
Hu Yu Ying was about to face her first test since transferring.
She took it very seriously.
Seeing Hu Yu Ying working so hard, Long Ao Tian couldn’t help but become more serious himself.
He wanted to see if the knowledge he had absorbed over the past few days could be applied to the test.
So throughout the entire class, Long Ao Tian was quite focused.
When the bell rang and the test papers were collected, Long Ao Tian let out a long sigh of relief.
He nudged Hu Yu Ying with his shoulder.
“What’s up, Long Ge?” Hu Yu Ying tilted her head to look at him.
“Grab your notebook and go,” Long Ao Tian gestured with his eyes.
Hu Yu Ying glanced at the few girls she had been discussing problems with.
After hesitating for a moment, she took her notebook and walked over.
Watching Hu Yu Ying gradually integrate into the group, Long Ao Tian suddenly felt as if his daughter was growing up...
**Chapter 40: Is This Too Much?**
Looking at the smile on Hu Yu Ying’s face, Long Ao Tian lazily stretched.
In truth, she had received so little kindness; the world was never short of kind-hearted people.
Perhaps it was a life scripted for her, or something else.
In any case, seeing Hu Yu Ying blend into the group made Long Ao Tian happy.
This was just the beginning; in the days to come, he would do his best to help Hu Yu Ying change.
She had already endured enough hardship in her early life.
In the days ahead, he hoped she could find her other half like in the stories and live a carefree, happy life.
He pulled the curtains open a bit, letting the sunlight stream in and warm him.
It felt so nice.
Hu Yu Ying sensed the kindness radiating from everyone around her.
It was a feeling she couldn’t quite describe.
Unintentionally, she glanced toward the last row.
Her gaze was slightly stirred...
Bathed in sunlight, Long Ao Tian appeared to exude a kind of sacred glow.
Like a light in the darkness.
He could always dispel the shadows around him.
“Hu Yu Ying, what are you daydreaming about?” a female classmate waved her hand in front of Hu Yu Ying.
This broke Hu Yu Ying’s gaze and thoughts.
Snapping back to reality, Hu Yu Ying looked at the classmate in front of her and smiled softly, “Nothing.”
But someone followed her gaze.
In terms of looks alone, Long Ao Tian could definitely be described as a charming rogue, especially when he smiled; his mischievous grin was unforgettable.
However, he fought, cursed, skipped classes, and disrupted the class’s reputation; he was someone no one dared to provoke.
After a moment of hesitation, she quietly reminded Hu Yu Ying to stay away from Long Ao Tian.
Hu Yu Ying would listen to these people but wouldn’t act on their advice.
She knew they meant well.
She had no way to argue.
Just like when she said Long Ao Tian was a kind person, but no one believed her.
That was okay.
As long as she knew that Long Ge was a really, really good person, that was enough.
It seemed the world had placed invisible labels on everyone.
Long Ao Tian was trying to help her shed the label of timidity.
So she had to find a way to help Long Ge remove his negative labels too.
Even if she couldn’t do it now, it didn’t mean she wouldn’t be able to in the future.
She would make sure everyone knew Long Ao Tian was a good person, a really, really good person, not a delinquent.
In the corridor by the stairs.
Li Qing Xue was heading to the restroom and casually glanced at Class 7’s back door.
To her surprise, she saw Long Ao Tian sitting beside a trash can, leaning against the wall, soaking up the sun.
Her expression froze for a moment, then she chuckled softly, “He really does love sunbathing.”
“What are you talking about, Qing Xue?” her deskmate Wang Rui asked, looking at her.
Following Li Qing Xue’s gaze, she quickly pulled her forward a couple of steps, away from Class 7’s area. “That guy is Long Ao Tian, the top dog of our senior class. He’s really hard to get along with.”
Li Qing Xue raised an eyebrow slightly. “Top dog? Long Ao Tian?”
Wang Rui looked at Li Qing Xue with a curious expression and laughed, “It’s understandable that you don’t know.”
Li Qing Xue was a top student in her class, ranking in the top three, so she naturally wouldn’t have any connections with troublemakers.
“He has a really bad temper. I have a roommate in Class 7, and she told me that once Long Ao Tian used just one punch to make a classmate bleed. It was really brutal!”
“My classmate also said that you should never provoke Long Ao Tian.”
“Provoking others is just a matter of exchanging a few harsh words, but if you provoke Long Ao Tian, he’ll go straight for a fight.”
Li Qing Xue looked at Wang Rui in surprise, momentarily doubting whether they were talking about the same person.
