Ethan Brooks grinned mischievously, deliberately raising his voice: “Lu Dog is awesome, not only good at basketball but also understands teamwork. Can you teach me too?”
After he said this, there was another burst of laughter around them. The faces of a few people from the sports class didn’t look too good, especially the dark-skinned one, whose face was as black as could be.
After playing two quarters in a row, everyone came down to rest. Ethan Brooks originally wanted to ask Logan Carter if he wanted some water, but before he could go over, Gavin Dawson handed over an unopened bottle of mineral water.
“Here you go, team boss.” Gavin Dawson was genuinely impressed by Logan Carter’s last buzzer-beater: “That shot just now was amazing.”
Ethan Brooks was still in shock that Gavin Dawson would actually hand someone water, when he heard Logan Carter reply, “Your pass was pretty good too.”
Gavin Dawson didn’t know Logan Carter well, but Ethan Brooks did. Getting a compliment out of this guy was harder than climbing to the sky.
Gavin Dawson had no concept of humility: “Not bad, just my usual performance.”
As he spoke, Gavin Dawson lifted the back of his hand to wipe away sweat. With the motion, the hem of his T-shirt was pulled up a bit, revealing a lean, smooth waistline.
Logan Carter glanced at him.
The exposed section of the boy’s waist and abs was taut.
So pale it was dazzling.
Author’s note: Is it good-looking, Logan?
Chapter 7: Threat
Class Ten had reached match point; if they won the next quarter, the whole game would be over.
The third quarter began. Maybe because of the score gap, the sports class played a bit impatiently, messing up a lot of details.
In contrast, on the other side, because of that last goal in the previous quarter, Gavin Dawson felt he and Logan Carter had developed some chemistry, and the two of them coordinated better and better, with the score gap snowballing bigger and bigger.
The atmosphere on the court grew increasingly tense.
Unlike the initial standoff, the sports class realized they were likely to lose, and their actions took on a bit of a “give up” attitude, with Shawn Douglas being the most obvious.
He would rather fail to intercept the ball than miss a chance to mess with Gavin Dawson.
Physical contact is normal in basketball, but when it got as frequent as Shawn Douglas’s, even Gavin Dawson could tell he was being targeted.
Unfortunately, this guy was too slow, and as long as Gavin Dawson paid a little attention, he could dodge him.
With the final rebound and basket, the whole game came to an end.
44-23.
That’s what you call a crushing defeat.
“Hey, hey, hey! Brothers from the sports class!” Off the court, Ethan Brooks was the first to shout: “How about a square dance at the flag-raising platform?”
The guys on the court were already frustrated, and when they heard these guys wanted them to do a square dance, they all hesitated, clearly not wanting to honor the bet.
Seeing the other side trying to back out, the boys from Class Ten weren’t having it: “Dare to challenge us but not keep your word? Lose and act like nothing happened?”
“Weren’t you all tough before?” Someone called out the dark-skinned guy’s name: “Jiang Lin, what’s up with your class?”
“Yeah, Jiang Lin, you’re not that kind of person, right?”
Boys all have their pride, especially the dark-skinned one, a typical tough guy who lived by loyalty. When he heard his name called, he felt respected by his opponents.
“Let’s dance.” The dark-skinned guy gritted his teeth and looked at his teammates: “We promised in front of everyone. It’s not right to go back on it now.”
The boys from the sports class looked ashen, especially when they heard Gavin Dawson and Logan Carter discussing whether to do “Wife is the Greatest” or “The Beautiful Seven Fairies.” They were all shocked by Gavin Dawson’s outrageous song choices.
Logan Carter looked at his choices and couldn’t help but laugh: “I don’t really know these. You pick.”
Gavin Dawson was wicked to the core. He looked around and thought that if they did a square dance, these guys could just mess around and claim they didn’t know the moves. So he came up with an idea: “How about you guys follow those girls over there and do aerobics? Make sure you get the moves right.”
He pointed to a first-year class having PE, a line of girls dancing to music with their teacher, looking lively and youthful.
But having these big guys twist their waists, wave their arms, and spin around was a terrifying thought.
“Anyone who gets the moves right can come down first. If you don’t, keep following them until the song ends.” Ethan Brooks was all for the fun, and as soon as this idea was suggested, it got unanimous approval from Class Ten.
Now, in order to end this embarrassing dance as soon as possible, the boys from the sports class, who had planned to just stretch lazily, had to seriously follow the music and learn the routine.
“Darkie! Darkie, you’re killing it!”
“I agree, those are ballroom dance steps!”
Gavin Dawson leaned against a tree like an emperor, and when he heard the others say this, he nodded approvingly, looking as smug as ever: “Jiang Lin, you can come down first.”
The dark-skinned guy breathed a sigh of relief.
After him, more people were pardoned and left the dance group first. After picking and choosing, whether intentionally or not, only Shawn Douglas was left by the boys from Class Ten.
When there were more people, it didn’t seem so bad, but when only Shawn Douglas was left, following the girls in aerobics, the scene became truly dramatic.
