The security guard at No. 1 High School recognized Gavin Dawson, so even though it wasn’t dismissal time, he let him out of the school gate. Gavin Dawson hailed a taxi and headed to the Central Hospital.
He didn’t have much patience to wait, so he registered himself for emergency care. Today was a workday, and there weren’t many people seeing the doctor at this hour, so it was soon Gavin Dawson’s turn.
The doctor who saw him was a woman. Gavin Dawson briefly explained his situation to her. She asked about his age and some physical conditions, then asked, “How did you find out you might be an Omega?”
“One of my classmates, he smelled it.”
The female doctor paused her hand on the mouse. “An Alpha?”
Gavin Dawson made a sound of agreement.
“Then your classmate is quite nice.” The doctor filled out the form. “Go pay the fee first, then get the examination done.”
Gavin Dawson felt a bit puzzled. Remembering what Logan Carter had said earlier, he vaguely sensed something was off. After leaving the emergency room, he took out his phone and contacted Chad Sullivan.
Chad Sullivan and Ian Scott were both his middle school classmates and close friends. After entering high school, Chad Sullivan went to Class Four. Chad Sullivan’s gender was Alpha, and back then Ian Scott had joked that the three of them made a perfect ABO trio.
Gavin Dawson sent a message:
[If an Omega lets you smell their scent, what do you think it means?]
Chad Sullivan was probably on his phone, as he replied quickly.
[I’d think my luck with romance has arrived.]
Gavin Dawson faintly sensed something was wrong and sent a string of question marks. When he saw Chad Sullivan’s next reply, his mind exploded.
[If an O lets an A smell their scent, what else could it mean?]
[Isn’t that just seduction?]
……
Gavin Dawson stood motionless in front of the self-service payment machine, holding it in for a while, the heat burning at his ears still not subsiding.
He muttered a curse under his breath.
-
That night, Gavin Dawson received his physical examination report.
The data showed that the Omega hormones in his body had already exceeded the average level and were still rising.
He really was an Omega who had just completed differentiation.
The doctor had never encountered an Omega who differentiated at his age before, and seeing the complex expression on this handsome boy’s face, after her initial surprise, she carefully reminded Gavin Dawson of various precautions and prescribed him inhibitors and blockers.
The doctor reminded Gavin Dawson that he needed to find time to update his personal information, changing the gender field from Beta to Omega.
When Gavin Dawson got home, he happened to run into Yvonne Foster who was about to go out.
Yvonne Foster seemed to have something to deal with. She was standing in the living room on the phone, her usually calm face showing a hint of anxiety: “…Okay, I’ll be there soon.”
“Mom.” Gavin Dawson called out to her. “You’re going out this late?”
“Xiaoyun is in the hospital again,” Yvonne Foster said. “Your Uncle He is already there with him. The child’s constitution isn’t good. The doctor said if he can make it past ten years old, things will gradually get better. If you have time, go visit him. He likes you so much…”
Gavin Dawson responded with an “oh.”
As Yvonne Foster spoke, she suddenly remembered that Gavin Dawson should be at evening study now. “Why are you home so early today?”
“I went for a physical.”
He handed the report to Yvonne Foster. When she saw the results, she looked at Gavin Dawson in disbelief.
“Amy, you…” She paused. “Are you feeling okay? Any discomfort? Can you accept it yourself?”
Amy was Gavin Dawson’s childhood nickname.
The name was given by Yvonne Foster when he was little; it sounded intimate and easy to call. The string of questions, along with the concern on her face, made the corners of Gavin Dawson’s lips lift slightly.
“I’m fine.” He comforted her instead. “There’s not much difference between Omega and Beta.”
Yvonne Foster’s brows were still furrowed.
She had always thought this child was too good-looking, and with such a sharp personality, being a Beta meant he wouldn’t easily suffer losses.
She hadn’t expected him to differentiate so late, and so unluckily into an Omega.
“As long as you don’t mind, that’s good.” She said, “We’ll need to find time to update your personal information. I should be free next week—”
Her phone rang again.
The other side was urging her anxiously, and Yvonne Foster was at a loss for a moment. Gavin Dawson noticed her dilemma. “It’s fine, I’ll go update the information myself in a few days, or I’ll have Ian Scott go with me. You should hurry to the hospital.”
Yvonne Foster nodded. With her back to him, she put on her shoes at the entryway. Gavin Dawson asked, pretending to be casual.
“Now that Uncle He and Samuel Harris have arrived in Ningcheng, are you going to move in with them?”
Yvonne Foster replied offhandedly, “Uncle He bought an apartment in Xinhua, it’s pretty close to No. 1 High, so we’ll move in together next month.”
Gavin Dawson was taken aback.
“Amy, go to bed early.” Yvonne Foster opened the door. “I probably won’t be back tonight. Set an alarm for yourself, don’t be late tomorrow.”
After she left.
Gavin Dawson stared at the tightly closed door and muttered to himself, “…But I don’t want to live with them. I just want to live with you.”
His voice was soft, falling in the empty, spacious room, sounding a little lonely.
