“Miss and the young lady have left, seems they went to the library,” Seraphine reported honestly.
“Uh... they didn’t have a falling out, did they?” Charles asked, a hint of concern in his voice.
“No, Your Grace,” Seraphine shrugged and replied, “It seems the young lady is quite happy; she hasn’t stopped smiling.”
After a brief silence, Charles sighed softly and said with a wry smile, “Sigh... I can’t even remember the last time I saw Aivina smile.”
“Do you want to check on them?” Seraphine teased.
“Let’s not disturb the young ones,” Charles shook his head. “Just have the kitchen prepare a more lavish dinner.”
“...Actually, you don’t need to worry too much, Your Grace.” Seraphine glanced at Charles, as if wanting to offer some comfort, but was interrupted.
“I’m not worried,” Charles replied, shaking his head. “It’s just... complicated.”
Xia Er was unaware that her “abduction” of Aivina had left Charles in a state of turmoil. At that moment, she had already entered the library with Aivina.
“Xia Er, you seem a bit different,” Aivina said, having been secretly observing her. “Did you... drink a potion? Have you become an extraordinary being?”
Aivina asked tentatively.
From the moment she saw Xia Er, Aivina felt something was off. The aura surrounding Xia Er felt unfamiliar.
This wasn’t the aura of any extraordinary path she had encountered before, so Aivina hadn’t initially thought of the extraordinary. But the more she observed, the more it seemed that only the extraordinary could explain it.
Xia Er had become extraordinary.
“Yes,” Xia Er nodded, not hiding it from Aivina.
“What path?” Aivina stepped closer, looking into Xia Er’s eyes and scrutinizing her entire being, yet still couldn’t discern anything.
Xia Er seemed to be the same Xia Er as before, with little change in personality, just an added aura of the extraordinary.
“‘Recorder’ and ‘Fictioner,’” Xia Er said, looking at Aivina.
Xia Er wanted to test the waters a bit, to see if Aivina recognized the names of these two paths.
If the Witch Academy had survived, then the paths must have been passed down through potions. Perhaps the paths in reality had multiplied.
“‘Recorder’... ‘Fictioner’?” Aivina furrowed her brow slightly.
If someone else had told her these two paths existed, Aivina would have thought they were joking.
But since it was Xia Er who said it, Aivina had to seriously consider the validity of it.
“Are they one of the three lost paths?” Aivina asked, looking at Xia Er.
“Lost paths?”
Xia Er’s eyes lit up at Aivina’s words.
This was something she had never heard before... What were the three lost paths?
“You don’t know about this? Of course, I initially thought it was just a legend...” Aivina explained the origins of the lost paths in detail.
According to legend, during the Age of Holy Wars, amidst countless holy battles and the destruction of numerous beliefs and paths, three lost paths were secretly preserved in some way.
These three lost paths originated from powerful forces in the Age of Chaos.
One symbolized “Creation and Knowledge,” another symbolized “Past and Future,” and the last one was the most mysterious, lacking even a symbol, yet still passed down like the legends of the other two paths.
“Creation and Knowledge... Past and Future...” Xia Er realized almost instantly what these terms corresponded to in the old days.
The Academy of Creation in the Tower... and her own Witch Academy?
Had they only been passed down as legends?
Xia Er wasn’t surprised by the Tower’s subsequent developments... but the Witch Academy hadn’t been preserved either?
Was it too deeply bound to the Tower? Or had the Witch Academy grown too powerful in its later development?
According to the theories Xia Er and Remedais had researched about the Great Cataclysm, the more powerful something was, the harder it was to pass down...
This reshuffling caused by the Great Cataclysm seemed to have torn open a gap... some information that should have never been passed down had made its way through.
What was the third path?
What reason did the third path have for being passed down?
“How many paths are there now?” Xia Er asked Aivina.
“Fifteen paths?” Aivina looked at Xia Er in confusion, seemingly surprised that Xia Er didn’t know this.
The third path... was the one that had always been hidden...
This path had existed from the beginning, had always been passed down, and had remained secret...
This path definitely had issues.
Xia Er might have thought there were problems with this path before, but in her mind, it hadn’t been a major concern...
However, after altering the course of the old days several times, this issue had become increasingly apparent to Xia Er.
Perhaps finding out which path this was could unravel many of Xia Er’s doubts.
“Can you help me find some books about the history of Gu Ansu? Any type will do,” Xia Er said to Aivina. “Especially those related to witches.”
“Sure.” Aivina nodded, not asking further questions, and began searching the library with Xia Er.
Marks... marks...
Xia Er quickly flipped through the books, trying to find the marks left by the Witch Academy.
But the more she searched, the deeper her confusion grew.
History... had reverted...
After her first return from the old days, the history in reality had included many records of witches, even altered histories, all of which were treated as official history and placed in the Royal Library and various church libraries.
Xia Er had already read these, and even recorded the versions of these books before the changes, the ones she hadn’t seen before her first return.
But this time, upon her second return from the old days, not only had the history not increased, but even the modified history from the first return had vanished, reverting to the original historical records...
To verify this, Xia Er and Aivina bid farewell to Charles and headed to the Royal Library to review the materials they had previously examined.
After going through the Royal Library’s records, Xia Er confirmed one thing.
The Great Cataclysm... had deliberately erased all information about witches!
But why, when the information about witches was erased, did her path and the Tower’s path still survive as legends?
Xia Er and Aivina left the Royal Library, walking back to the Russell Marquisate.
Throughout the journey, Xia Er’s expression remained serious as she pondered the connections between these matters.
Could it be that what Remedais said about the Great Cataclysm failing... didn’t refer to stopping the Great Cataclysm from failing...
But rather, that they had been discovered by the “Great Cataclysm,” and their plan to leave information... had failed.
And how was all of this related to that path that had been hidden all along?
Xia Er needed to continue verifying... she had many places left to explore...
“The Touch of Fate’s Betrayal,” that feather quill.
With her second encounter with the old days, that quill might not have been killed by her, and there was even a chance it recognized her. The quill could still be alive, and she could try to find it.
Sadana...
She might not have fallen into madness, and perhaps the clue about the three lost paths was something she had spread. Xia Er might need to actively seek out Sadana.
Finding the Touch of Fate’s Betrayal was still without any leads for now, but Xia Er knew how to find Sadana.
Koleis Bloodspear, if she could just find her, she would likely be able to locate Sadana.
Xia Er decided to go directly to find Koleis Bloodspear.
She didn’t stay for dinner but sought out Lucy Silufar, asking her to make the introductions, which led to an opportunity to meet Koleis Bloodspear.
However, during her meeting with Koleis Bloodspear, Xia Er was once again left in confusion.
Koleis Bloodspear was not wearing a necklace around her neck, nor was there the one that connected to Sadana, possibly the “Fragment of Uniqueness.”
