Chapter 415

After Shaer asked his question, Eleanor spoke directly, “Can I ask... when the time was reversed by Qiangyin, was Saint Claudia... still alive?”

As expected.

Seeing Eleanor lean slightly forward, her expression tinged with hope, Shaer slowly replied, “She’s dead.”

The moment Shaer’s words fell, Eleanor’s body stiffened slightly, her shoulders drooping as if the hope that had just risen in her heart had been dashed once more.

“Is that so...” Eleanor’s voice came out hoarse.

“Do you want to save her?” Shaer leaned back against the sofa, narrowing his eyes as he looked at Eleanor. “Is that what the Church of the Savior Goddess wants too?”

“Sort of... but...” Eleanor gently shook her head.

With even Qiangyin’s time-reversal ability—an extraordinary “uniqueness”—unable to return to the moment before the saint’s death, Eleanor had already given up hope in her heart.

Shaer wasn’t lying, either. The time Qiangyin locked onto for the reversal was set for a hundred days later, specifically October 25th.

At that point in time, the saint had long since passed away, and Qiangyin would be stuck in a continuous loop of time-reversal for six hours on that day—his time was effectively frozen there.

But...

“Qiangyin can’t do it,” Shaer said with a smile, “but I can.”

Eleanor was taken aback by Shaer’s words, her eyes behind the mask staring blankly at him, as if she couldn’t quite believe what she had just heard.

This statement was not a lie.

He truly could “reverse” time.

Because after the simulation ended, in the real timeline, the saint was still alive.

In a sense, Shaer returning to reality was a form of time reversal, and he could even bring memories with him to change the “past” and the future.

“Y-You... can?” Eleanor took a deep breath, trying to calm her emotions. When she looked at Shaer again, her eyes behind the mask were filled with eagerness.

But at the same time, Eleanor was also filled with trepidation.

Although the Church of the Savior Goddess wanted to collaborate with Shaer and the organization behind him, their most passive concern was that they didn’t know what Shaer truly needed or lacked.

To be honest, the Church of the Savior Goddess had very little left.

Aside from the vast wealth and various magical materials accumulated over time, their greatest sincerity lay in the multitude of followers and the Church’s elite forces.

But they assumed Shaer lacked none of these.

Just then, Shaer spoke up.

“If you want my help... there’s one thing you need to clarify.” Shaer looked at Eleanor and said slowly, “You know that when time is reversed, neither Qiangyin nor you will have any memories.”

“How can you convince your people that an ordinary girl found you and claimed she saved your saint? That’s what you should be considering.”

Eleanor sensed something in her heart.

“Are you suggesting...?” Eleanor ventured to ask.

“A power that can make you believe me without any cost at that past moment,” Shaer replied slowly. “This won’t affect your present, will it?”

“This...” Eleanor pondered.

Shaer’s request, strictly speaking, wouldn’t impact the Church.

If it was merely a matter of controlling the Church’s power in the past, it wouldn’t affect the present. But if the other party truly obtained that power and returned to the past, wouldn’t they use it for other purposes?

Unless some additional conditions were placed on that power... but discussing how to limit such power would require multiple meetings.

Seemingly sensing Eleanor’s hesitation, Shaer said, “I advise you to return to the Church now and discuss how to collaborate on this matter... because in a few hours, I will be reversing time... I need an answer within five hours.”

Eleanor looked deeply at Shaer, then stood up and slightly bowed in his direction. “Your Excellency, I will give you a response as soon as possible.”

“One last question...”

Eleanor straightened up, looking at Shaer. “Is it true what Qiangyin said about the Church merging... that at some point in the future, the Church of the Savior Goddess and the Holy Church really merged?”

“To be frank, that’s almost impossible...”

This was a concern shared by Eleanor and the higher-ups of the Church of the Savior Goddess—the conflict between the Holy Church and the Church of the Savior Goddess had reached an irreconcilable point, and no one believed the two factions could truly merge.

“You thought the same before you encountered the Anworm.” Shaer smiled slightly. “It was the emergence of the Anworm that caused a few to fall into eternal slumber.”

Anworm... emergence...

Eleanor’s heart skipped a beat. She never expected that the enormous conflict between the two factions would be resolved through such a dramatic “mechanical deification,” something that seemed illogical yet made perfect sense.

“You’d better come to a conclusion quickly.” Shaer waved his hand, not wanting to answer any more questions. “I still plan to take a nap before I go back.”

“Alright...”

Though her emotions were somewhat stirred and she wanted to ask how to summon the Anworm, Eleanor understood that continuing to press for answers would be a bit impolite.

She needed to return to the Church quickly, report this matter to the Pope, and discuss a resolution as soon as possible.

While handing over power to someone else could lead to significant problems... what issue could be more pressing than the hunting of several other organizations? They were already teetering on the brink of life and death.

After expressing her respect to Shaer and Aivina once more, Eleanor transformed into a shadow and vanished from the spot.

Once Eleanor left, Aivina set down her cup of red tea and turned to Shaer.

“Back to... the past?” Aivina had never heard of this before. She looked at Shaer, surprised. “Shaer... is that really true?”

“Yes.” Shaer glanced at Aivina and nodded slightly. “Do you remember how I sometimes suddenly felt weak in my mental energy? That’s a manifestation of having reversed time... I might have spent an entire day in another timeline during that moment.”

According to the system, mentioning time travel in the simulation wouldn’t trigger any catastrophic consequences, as long as it wasn’t brought up in reality, so Shaer didn’t hide it.

Moreover, she was curious about Aivina’s reaction to this revelation.

“So...?” Aivina’s mind was racing, trying to grasp the concept of time travel. She hesitated before asking, “The many potions you requested before...”

“Yes,” Shaer nodded. “I’ve basically tried them all.”

“No wonder.” Aivina felt she had uncovered one of Shaer’s secrets, and it was a monumental one.

Furthermore, the strange things Shaer had done before now had explanations.

“But after the reversal, I’ll forget all of this, right?” Aivina’s mind sparked with a new question.

It was inevitable; anyone faced with such a miraculous ability would be unable to contain their curiosity.

Shaer: “Yes.”

“Well, that’s good.” Aivina shook her head. “At least I won’t remember the sad things from before.”

After asking a few more questions, including those about Adele, and confirming that everything was fine, Aivina finally sighed in relief and walked up to Shaer.

“Every time you drink a different potion, does each one affect your personality in different ways?” Aivina leaned slightly, inquiring.

This was something she was very curious about.

“Sort of... some make me more irritable, some more cold-blooded, others more prone to causing trouble, and some make me gamble everything on a whim...” Shaer nodded, yawning again. “Can I go take a nap now...?”

So there are so many different personalities of Shaer...

I want to see them all...

Thinking about it, did the versions of myself in different timelines all experience different “flavors” of Shaer?

That’s just... amazing!
