**Chapter 57: Attribute Surge**
**Bonus Attributes:** Constitution +7 | Intelligence +5
**Magical Attributes:** +1% Damage | +2% Attack Speed
**Equipment Requirements:** Level ≥ 3 | Constitution ≥ 17
Unfortunately, she needed to reach level 3 to use it. All rare-grade equipment had requirements, and the good items she had found in the past few days were no exception—either they demanded higher attributes or a higher level.
However, she had no intention of selling these treasures. Cats have their ways, and mice have theirs; she didn’t believe that these players couldn’t reach the auction house. She even knew of players who disguised themselves to act as agents, helping others who couldn’t enter the city to buy various materials or equipment.
Of course, the officials wouldn’t miss such a golden opportunity. They could guarantee transactions for players, but they took a 1% cut, which was practically highway robbery.
Yu Xunge planned to keep the rare-grade equipment for herself, but she sold off anything below that level.
She spread out a cloth and placed her loot from today on it.
**Exquisite Leather Armor** (Fine)
**Bonus Attributes:** Intelligence +5
**Magical Attributes:** +2% Magic Damage
For the time being, she didn’t need any attributes other than Constitution. In the past few days, she had only found a pair of gloves with +7 Constitution, which replaced her previous +5 Constitution wolfskin gloves. She sold off all her other gear.
Yu Xunge didn’t bother to hide her good fortune; her fate was bound to unfold sooner or later, so she openly displayed her luck.
The locals had grown accustomed to her presence. She came by every day to sell equipment, sometimes one piece, sometimes two.
Even the officials had bought quite a bit from her.
Before long, the armor sold for 19 silver.
Yu Xunge didn’t think it was a small amount. She had already emptied the goblins, and her daily income was just 3 gold from crafting, plus about 50 silver from defeating monsters above her level. She had plenty of things she wanted to buy.
She planned to head to another main city tomorrow to exchange her gold bricks for cash.
After packing up the cloth, a few figures appeared before her—three men and two women. They squatted down, chatted for a bit, and then friendly invited her to join their party. Yu Xunge wasn’t surprised; nearly every day someone invited her to team up, drawn by her luck and her skills.
As usual, she declined.
But this group was persistent, following her back to her tent and wanting to talk inside.
Yu Xunge simply stopped, turned to face them, and asked, “If I can earn an item on my own, why would I want to share it with you?”
The leader, a man, kept his smile intact. “If we team up, we can take on higher-level monsters.”
Yu Xunge was too lazy to argue, but seeing a few other parties glancing their way, she decided to elaborate a bit: “So how do we split the higher-level gear we find? By contribution? But how do you measure luck, something intangible? If I find an item, I’ll say it’s my luck that brought it. Would you be satisfied with just a sixth of it?”
The man spoke softly, “In a team, fairness is key. If it’s unfair, a team won’t last long.”
Yu Xunge replied, “So you mean to split it evenly? By your standard of fairness, each person gets a share. If I can earn an item alone, why would I want to team up just to get a sixth?”
His eyes darkened, but his smile remained gentle. “But luck is indeed hard to quantify.”
Yu Xunge laughed, “If it’s so hard to quantify, why invite me in the first place?”
After sending the group away, Yu Xunge reflected on their expressions, sensing that things might not be peaceful from here on out.
At first, people might be tempted by her luck, but after days of her daily haul surpassing what others gathered in three days, it was only a matter of time before they couldn’t hold back.
The next morning at 5 AM, as Yu Xunge stepped out of the outpost, she felt someone following her.
Turning around, she saw the same five people from yesterday. When they realized she noticed them, they didn’t seem embarrassed; instead, they smiled at her and continued to follow.
Once they passed through the spider territory, the five stopped. They could barely handle level 4 spiders, but level 5 was another story.
The tall, thin one frowned and asked the leader, “What now?”
The leader replied, “Let’s go talk to them.”
The group turned to leave, but they didn’t notice a small spider lurking on a nearby tree.
Yu Xunge quickly transformed into a bird and flew up, trailing behind them.
She hadn’t touched a cow cat in seven days, but thanks to her Anima Goss, she had developed a habit of petting small animals whenever she saw them. In the real world, she made sure to pet different animals every few days to ensure she had access to all three forms: land, sea, and air.
Carefully following the group, she soon arrived at a cave where they all squeezed inside. Yu Xunge landed and transformed into a spider, scuttling along with her eight short legs, barely keeping up.
Before long, she heard voices ahead. Climbing up the rock wall, she continued deeper into the cave and soon spotted a small wild outpost with a dozen players just waking up.
Counting them, along with the five she was following, there were 21 in total.
A burly man asked, “What’s the verdict?”
The tall, thin one from the five-man team shook his head. “They won’t agree.”
The burly man chuckled, “Of course they won’t. Su Zhi insisted on talking first. What a joke!”
The leader of the five, Su Zhi, replied, “We have to give them a chance.”
The burly man scoffed, “You’re so hypocritical. You’re the one with the harshest methods, yet you always want to talk first, as if that makes you a good person.”
The other players had clearly grown used to their bickering and continued with their own tasks.
Su Zhi said, “Alright, let’s get to it. She’ll be back before dark. Is everything ready?”
The burly man replied, “Yeah, don’t worry. She won’t die, but what if the officials find out?”
Su Zhi smiled politely, “So what if they do? Are they really going to risk the lives of a dozen players for a useless one?”
The burly man chuckled, “Can we at least keep her legs? I want to have some fun before you chop them off. I’ve never played with a female star before.”
Su Zhi replied, “Sure.”
“Boss, me too!”
“Me too!”
Su Zhi, in a good-natured tone, said, “Alright, everyone can have a turn, but only after we’re done.”
Yu Xunge lay calmly against the wall, having already deduced their intentions. They planned to chop off her legs, then heal her, leaving her to be treated like a pet, a mere mascot.
No, they might not even leave her hands intact, since having hands meant she could cast skills.
Yu Xunge remained calm. She quickly scurried out of the cave, stripped off her equipment, dropping her health limit to 250. Then she consumed a high-level dish that allowed her to recover 500 health per minute after a critical hit, before transforming back into a spider and racing back. She climbed to the rock wall above the group, relieved that the cave wasn’t too high, allowing her to stay within their skill range.
—【I want this, this, and this】!
Yu Xunge felt like a caffeine addict finally getting her fix; this skill was the most satisfying to use!
Even though using it required 20% of her health, that was only 50 points. With her recovery rate of 10 points per second, she could fully recover in just 25 seconds.
As the group chatted and prepared a large iron cage to deal with her, one of them remarked, “With her luck, what’s her luck stat? It can’t be 10, right?”
“Maybe it’s a divine gift?” another suggested.
“Can’t we find out? Those people are too tight-lipped.”
“It’s fine; it’s better this way. If they can’t figure out her divine gift, it won’t prove ours either.”
“That’s true, but if we get caught, won’t we face severe punishment?”
“Then we’ll just keep her here.”
“What a shame; it would be nice to play with her more.”
“Hahaha, even without legs, we can still have fun!”
“Hahahaha, true!”
Not everyone was as diligent as Yu Xunge. While the game was fun, when it became reality—where injuries hurt and death was real—even those who were no longer mere mortals could feel fear. Moreover, players had limited means of attack, relying solely on their divine gifts.
Yu Xunge had been stealing for a full hour, and the group still hadn’t left. This hour had been incredibly efficient. When she had stolen from Su Yitong and Liang Yuchuan, she hadn’t stopped either, constantly drinking healing potions to replenish her health. But potions had cooldowns, and even with her reckless spending, the frequency of her skill usage hadn’t been high.
But today, with her Food God talent, her cooking skills had improved…
She could recover 10 health per second, but using a skill cost 50 health. So, how long would it take to fill a pool with a faucet running water while another faucet drained it?
Yu Xunge found herself zoning out as she continued stealing until the group split into several teams and finally left the cave.
