“Gu Shijie is here too?”
Bai Feng glanced across the room and saw Gu Yueqing cutting fabric.
“Good morning, Bai Shidi.” She turned around, greeted him with a smile, and then went back to her work.
But as she turned away, a flicker of fear crossed her face.
She hadn’t meant to say anything hurtful; she regretted not thinking twice before speaking. Would Bai Feng, in a fit of anger, push her into the river?
“Brother, you should sit and rest. I’ll get you some tea.”
Bai Yumo still wore a smile as she leisurely poured a cup of tea for Bai Feng. Yet, her eyes kept darting toward him, almost as if she were gauging his reaction.
Yesterday, she had been pondering the artistic talents within the Bai family when a childhood memory suddenly surfaced.
She vividly recalled a winter day from her youth when Bai Feng had a whimsical idea. He had dragged her into the yard, armed with a piece of charcoal, and started drawing on the ground.
Bai Feng’s art was unlike anyone else’s; his figures and small animals had large eyes, and the animals stood upright like people. Most strikingly, the shadows in his drawings were incredibly lifelike—a technique she had never seen before.
Just like that wedding dress illustration, or the designs Yu Yao had presented from the Spring and Autumn period.
So, she was quite certain that the artist behind the Spring and Autumn illustrations was Bai Feng.
“Brother, I heard from Shijie Yu Yao that the wedding dress image was provided by you.”
As soon as Bai Yumo finished speaking, Bai Feng, Yu Yao, and Gu Yueqing all perked up, halting their work.
“Ah… well…”
Bai Feng felt a twinge of nervousness, but then he realized that since Bai Yumo was asking, it meant Yu Yao had managed to cover for him. Bai Yumo didn’t know about the Spring and Autumn matter, so he regained his composure and nodded, responding with a hint of pride, “Yes, I brought it. Isn’t it beautiful?”
At that moment, Yu Yao bowed her head, her hands clasped in front of her chest: Is the judgment finally upon me? I’m so glad to have created such a beautiful garment. I hope in my next life, I can encounter the master of Spring and Autumn’s works and continue making lovely clothes.
However, Bai Yumo didn’t pursue the Spring and Autumn topic as Yu Yao had expected. Instead, she moved closer to Bai Feng.
Leaning slightly, she almost whispered in his ear, “Brother, I remember you drew some really beautiful pictures when we were kids. Was that one of them? Please tell me, I won’t tell anyone else.”
“You remember that?” Bai Feng turned to look at Bai Yumo, who was nearly face-to-face with him. He tilted his body slightly and nodded, “Yes, it’s just as you think.”
He didn’t deny it. Firstly, the Bai family had no artists; even if he denied it now, Bai Yumo would find out once she got home. Besides, he didn’t trust that his father would keep quiet about it.
Secondly, he was confident that Yu Yao hadn’t betrayed him. Bai Yumo didn’t know about the Spring and Autumn matter, and given her personality, she wouldn’t be interested in that kind of book. So, admitting it wouldn’t be a problem.
“I knew it felt familiar!”
Bai Yumo smiled, having ‘accidentally’ uncovered a little secret of Bai Feng’s.
When she got home, she would check out the Spring and Autumn books Yu Yao had given her, which would also help her understand Bai Feng’s preferences better.
Bai Feng felt there was something more behind her smile, but the next moment, she stepped in front of him, lifting the hem of her skirt slightly, mimicking a pose from the illustration: “Brother, what do you think? It should be pretty close to the dress in the picture, right?”
He instinctively glanced down—yep, it was indeed white silk, looking stunning!
Wait!
Clearing his throat, he looked Bai Yumo up and down and nodded in praise, “Yes, you look just like a fairy that stepped out of the picture!”
“Hehe…” Bai Yumo blushed a little, then seemed to remember something and curiously asked Bai Feng, “By the way, Brother, I heard this outfit is for weddings. Are there outfits for men too? What do they look like?”
“There are.” Bai Feng nodded, glancing at the two women working on the clothes. “But I don’t have that illustration with me right now. I’ll ask ‘someone’ about it when we get back.”
“Okay.”
Bai Yumo nodded eagerly, a hint of anticipation in her eyes.
A thought crossed her mind—could she ask Bai Feng to try on the outfit once it was made?
Then she thought…
Ugh, too embarrassing!
“Yumo, why is your face so red?”
“Nothing, nothing.”
Bai Yumo quickly shook her head, unable to meet Bai Feng’s gaze.
Meanwhile, Yu Yao, who was sewing nearby, felt relieved that the tension hadn’t escalated.
Though she didn’t understand why Bai Yumo hadn’t pressed Bai Feng about the Spring and Autumn matter, she was just glad it had passed.
As for the future, they would deal with it later!
Live for today, drink for today; tomorrow’s worries can wait!
“Alright, alright!” Yu Yao lifted her head, trying to maintain her composure, but almost bit her tongue as she spoke. “I remember today is the day the auction starts! Let’s go out and see if we can find something interesting!”
Bai Feng looked at Yu Yao, almost forgetting the purpose of their visit.
As the daughter of the Yu family, Yu Yao couldn’t possibly skip the auction, and he had no suitable excuse to stop her.
So, the plan was simple: keep Yu Yao close.
With a smile, he half-jokingly said, “Sure, Shijie, you have to treat us well, and it can’t be just any ordinary maid; it has to be you personally. If you do a good job, I’ll give you a mysterious gift.”
Yu Yao perked up immediately: “Oh? Since you put it that way, I’ll stick with you guys today!”

Chapter 93: Little Shidi, say something!
‘The Child of Destiny has indeed arrived.’
Inside the auction house, Bai Feng and Yu Yao had settled into a private box on the second floor, enjoying snacks while waiting for the auction to begin.
At that moment, a marker for a Child of Destiny was flashing on the mini-map, indicating that this Child of Destiny was approaching the auction house.
“Little Shidi, I’ve had the materials you wanted packed up.” Yu Yao casually tossed a storage bag over to him. “Check if anything’s missing.”
“So fast? I haven’t even paid yet!”
Bai Feng quickly caught it and, after confirming everything was there, tucked it away.
“That’s my trust in you.” Yu Yao sat high in her chair, popping a piece of pastry into her mouth. “Besides, didn’t you leave two formation plates with me for consignment? Once they sell, I’ll just deduct your fees.”
“Let’s hope they fetch a good price then.”
As Bai Feng spoke, he glanced at the mini-map and saw the Child of Destiny had arrived at the auction house.
He casually pulled back a curtain to look at the entrance.
A man wearing a black hat stepped inside.
‘System, check the identity of the person.’
【Li Ming, male, early Golden Core stage, son of an ordinary hunter. After losing his parents in an accident, he joined the Chuan Yun Sect. Initially of average talent, he unexpectedly fused with a fragment of an ancient powerful being’s soul.】
‘Wow, this Child of Destiny is quite impressive!’
Bai Feng marveled inwardly; even an ancient powerful being was involved. It seemed this Child of Destiny was, apart from Bai Yumo, the most distinguished one he had encountered.
“Who?”
Li Ming looked up, noticing the curtain of a box on the second floor fluttering slightly.
He frowned, feeling an uncomfortable sensation wash over him, as if he had encountered someone unpleasant.
“Is it Master Wan?” At that moment, an elderly man from the auction house approached, smiling. “I’ve been waiting for you. Please follow me to the second-floor box; the auction will begin shortly.”
“Mm.”
Li Ming shook off his thoughts, nodded, and followed the old man upstairs.
However, just before entering the box, he glanced at the one he had noticed downstairs.
…
‘This Child of Destiny is quite alert. Is it because he has too much luck, leading to increased hostility?’
Bai Feng pondered.
Speaking of hostility, it seemed that it didn’t apply to the known Children of Destiny. At least the three he encountered in the Tian Jian Sect had acted normally around him.
In contrast, new Children of Destiny often harbored significant animosity toward him.
Even excluding the sycophant from the Feng Ling Sect, the last time he met Zuo Qiu, she had directly targeted him.
He decided to observe a bit longer.
“The auction is starting.”
Yu Yao snapped her fingers, and the curtains of the box slowly parted, revealing glass that emitted a soft white glow.
