Chapter 5

Only on the stage, playing the piano, Qiu'er kept her eyes on him, watching as he walked away.

"Maybe you should go home and soak up some sun," she said softly.

Bai Feng shook his head, but after just a couple of steps, he noticed a few people approaching from ahead.

They were dressed just like the so-called "Child of Fortune" he had encountered earlier, clearly inner disciples of the Tianjian Sect.

Are they the Child of Fortune's lackeys?

As he pondered this, one of them locked eyes with him:

"Heh, what a waste of space. Out in broad daylight, in a place like this? I feel embarrassed for Bai Shimei!"

Bai Feng: "?"

What’s it to you if I’m here enjoying some music?

Damn it, I’m a villain with a villain system, and I’m being mocked by some nobody!

Who’s the real villain here, you or me?

**Chapter 5: What’s That Dog Barking About?**

"What’s wrong? Cat got your tongue?" The male disciple continued to press, "You dug out your own sister's celestial bone for power, and now you’ve fallen to this? You’re just tarnishing Bai Shimei’s name! If I were you, I’d find a place to end it all!"

Bai Feng quickly realized they were just looking for trouble, and most likely, this guy was just a sycophant for his sister.

Damn it, I can’t afford to mess with the Child of Fortune, but you, a mere lackey, dare to jump around in front of me?

If it were any other lackey, I might hesitate, but since you’re my sister’s lackey, I have to take you down!

"Who the hell are you? What a nuisance!" Without a second thought, Bai Feng drew his sword, "Get lost, or I’ll help you on your way!"

"Alright, alright!" The male disciple was taken aback by Bai Feng’s audacity, and he laughed in anger, "Looks like you don’t know the difference between us. Today, I’ll teach you a lesson on behalf of Bai Shimei!"

"Chen Shixiong, is that really a good idea?" One of the disciples who had come with him hesitated. After all, Bai Feng was Bai Shimei’s brother, and it didn’t seem right for outsiders to meddle in their family affairs.

But Chen Shixiong wasn’t listening, or rather, he had his own theory: "It’s fine. He’s the one who tried to dig out Bai Shimei’s celestial bone. Do you think she would still recognize him?"

Maybe Bai Shimei was just holding back because of family ties, so let him take care of it!

Just the thought that Bai Shimei might glance his way because of this made his heart race with excitement.

"What a fool! You think you can chat while fighting? Do you take me for some NPC who can’t move during dialogue?"

Bai Feng had somehow appeared right in front of Chen Shixiong and kicked him away.

Chen Shixiong quickly spun in mid-air and landed firmly on the ground, his face filled with rage at this dishonorable opponent. At the same time, he felt a flicker of confusion—how could this so-called waste, who was only at the early stage of Foundation Establishment, kick him, a perfected Foundation Establishment cultivator, away?

As if sensing his confusion, Bai Feng raised his left foot and almost instantly closed the distance, "Spirit weapon, kid!"

Though his talent was average, his family was wealthy. Do you know the worth of the Bei family in the North Region?

If it weren’t for the fact that Foundation Establishment cultivators couldn’t use celestial weapons, he would at least have a semi-celestial weapon for self-defense.

Chen Shixiong quickly raised his sword to defend himself. Despite Bai Feng being only at the early stage of Foundation Establishment, he found himself nearly gasping for breath under the pressure. Bai Feng’s sword was not only fast but also powerful; his hands were almost numbed from the impact.

Meanwhile, unseen by Chen Shixiong, several talismans on Bei Ran glowed with golden light, continuously enhancing his speed and strength. With the support of numerous spirit weapons, dealing with a perfected Foundation Establishment cultivator was a piece of cake.

As he kept retreating, Chen Shixiong soon forgot about his pride. Gathering his breath, he unleashed the full force of his perfected Foundation Establishment aura, sending Bai Feng staggering back several steps.

"Good! You’re impressive!"

Chen Shixiong’s expression darkened. He hadn’t expected to miscalculate; Bai Feng was not as useless as the rumors suggested. His foundation was solid, completely unlike someone who had forcibly raised their cultivation with pills.

Realizing this, he narrowed his eyes, "You’ve hidden yourself well! If it weren’t for me, everyone would have been fooled. Those rumors about you being a waste and relying on pills were probably spread by you, right? Looks like you’re still not giving up on Bai Shimei’s celestial bone!"

Bai Feng: "?"

Are you out of your mind? Why would I spread rumors saying ‘I’m a waste’?

And yes, I did rely on pills to raise my cultivation! But I digested the effects properly and solidified my foundation. Many geniuses in various sects do the same, don’t they?

"It seems one lesson isn’t enough for you. Don’t worry, for Bai Shimei’s sake, I’ll spare your life." Chen Shixiong drew his sword, sharp sword energy radiating from him, "Come on, you’re not the only one with a spirit weapon in this world."

Bai Feng rubbed his head, feeling like the Tianjian Sect was hoarding all the good stuff. This is Qinghong City; what are you barking about?

"I say, are you just going to stand there? Not going to help him?" He turned to the Tianjian Sect disciples beside him, "If you’re not going to help, then join in; I’m in a hurry!"

Do you really think this Bai family young master only has low-level spirit weapons?

Just as they were at a loss, a few disciples raised in the sect with innocent eyes, a voice suddenly rang out:

"Don’t help him. You guys hurry and find a few people to call Bai Shijie over from the Bai family."

Instantly, the faces of the disciples lit up with excitement: "It’s Lin Shidi!"

"Right! Lin Shidi’s family is here too!"

They felt as if they had found their backbone, quickly agreeing and stepping back, while two of them hurried off toward the Bai family.

Seeing his companions so cowardly, Chen Shixiong’s anger flared even more. He turned to the disinterested Bai Feng and gritted his teeth, "I can handle you alone!"

He stepped forward, his sword slicing through the air toward Bai Feng.

But before Bai Feng could unleash a stronger move, a figure suddenly darted out, intercepting Chen Shixiong’s attack with a sword.

"Chen Shixiong, is it really a skill to bully the weak? How about I play with you instead?"

Lin Yan landed gracefully, his broad sword pointed at Chen Shixiong.

"What are you doing here?" Bai Feng feigned surprise, even though he had known Lin Yan was lurking in the shadows.

"I’ve actually been watching from the sidelines. Sorry for not stepping in sooner," Lin Yan apologized, then gave Bai Feng a thumbs up, "Bai Xiong, I knew I didn’t misjudge you! Don’t worry, I’ve got your back!"

Bai Feng: "?"

What do you even understand?

What’s going on with the Tianjian Sect? Even you, the Child of Fortune, are acting like this?

"Lin Yan!!" Chen Shixiong, furious that his attack was blocked by a fellow Tianjian Sect disciple, felt his anger boil over, "Are you sure you want to stop me?"

"I just can’t stand someone being unreasonable and bullying the weak."

Though Lin Yan was only at the mid-stage of Foundation Establishment, he showed no fear against a perfected Foundation Establishment cultivator. After all, he had fought perfected Foundation Establishment cultivators in the sect before.

"You think just because you’ve beaten a few wastes, you can challenge me?" Chen Shixiong clearly knew of Lin Yan’s record. He raised his sword, pointing it forward, "I’ll ask you one last time: are you sure you want to stop me?"

"Stop talking nonsense. If you want to fight, then fight. If not, get lost."

Lin Yan frowned; this guy was really losing his mind.

"Need a hand?" Bai Feng asked, casually toying with his sword.

"No need. I can handle him myself." Lin Yan chuckled, confidence radiating from him.

"Then take this." Bai Feng tossed over a talisman he had drawn, "Use it freely; I have plenty more."

Seeing it wasn’t anything particularly precious, Lin Yan didn’t hesitate to catch it, "I won’t hold back then."

"Alright, alright!" Chen Shixiong, seeing their nonchalant attitude, smiled instead of getting angry, "Looks like it’s time for you to understand the gap between us."

With that, he charged straight at Lin Yan.

**Chapter 6: Could He Actually Be a Genius?**

"Bai Shijie, Bai Shijie!" Two disciples dressed in Tianjian Sect robes stood outside the Bai family’s door, calling out repeatedly.

The guard nearby looked puzzled—what were these Tianjian Sect disciples doing shouting outside?

If they were too shy to enter the Bai family, they could at least ask for help to announce their presence!

Just as the guard was about to step forward to let the two innocent-looking Tianjian Sect disciples in, Bai Yumo had already heard the commotion outside and quickly walked out.

"What’s going on?" She noticed the anxious expressions on her two junior sisters and asked curiously, "Weren’t you out shopping? Did someone give you trouble?"

"It’s not that! Chen Shixiong is fighting with your brother!"

"We ran into Lin Shidi, and he sent us to find you."
