The door wasn’t closed, so Henry Bennett pushed it open directly and placed the book on the table closest to the door.
Grace Sawyer walked in slowly, turned her head, and met Ethan Sawyer’s gaze.
Ethan Sawyer and Henry Bennett had beds opposite each other. At this moment, he was sitting on a chair, his long legs propped up on the table, lazily drinking water. “Good buddy, thanks for your hard work.”
He looked especially annoying in that posture.
Grace Sawyer complained, “And you said you didn’t have time to come down and pick me up.”
Ethan Sawyer replied with a straight face, “Yeah, I just finished tidying up. I just sat down to rest for a bit.”
Hearing other voices, a chubby boy poked his head out from the bed. “Hey, is this Ethan Sawyer’s little sister?”
Grace Sawyer nodded. “Hello.”
Another boy came out from the balcony. “Wow, little sister is pretty cute.”
Ethan Sawyer screwed the cap back on his bottle and tossed it over. “Don’t use bad language.”
The boy caught the bottle nimbly and tossed it back. “Who are you lecturing? You’re the one who usually—” He suddenly realized and grinned, “Oh, I just spoke too fast. Little sister, don’t learn from me.”
Grace Sawyer nodded silently.
Her gaze shifted to Henry Bennett, but quickly dropped again.
Henry Bennett tidied up the things on the table, then pulled his chair over next to Ethan Sawyer. The corners of his mouth curved up slightly, and imitating the boys, he called out to her in a lazy tone, “Little sister, sit here.”
Grace Sawyer responded softly, “Okay.”
Then, Henry Bennett walked into the bathroom.
The cramped dorm room suddenly became lively. Grace Sawyer quickly figured out that the chubby boy was called Jack Carter, and the one who had just cursed was Brian Brooks. They were both easy to get along with and talkative.
Ethan Sawyer seemed to have a good relationship with them. He chatted with them while playing on his phone, occasionally joining in the conversation.
As they chatted, they suddenly decided to go out for barbecue for dinner.
And to bring Grace Sawyer along.
Not long after, Henry Bennett came out of the bathroom. He had changed his top, returned to his seat, didn’t join their conversation, and opened the drawer to take out his wallet.
Brian Brooks looked at him, grinning cheekily. “Old Bennett, you just moved in. Come have hotpot with us later.”
“Tonight?” Henry Bennett shook his head. “You guys go ahead, I have something to do.”
Grace Sawyer immediately looked at him.
Jack Carter said, “What are you up to! Do you have a girlfriend or something? Absolutely not! Our dorm is a team! If you want a girlfriend, you have to help me find one first!”
Brian Brooks argued, “No way, help me first.”
Jack Carter: “I don’t have many requirements, just don’t want someone with a bad temper.”
Brian Brooks: “As long as it’s a girl.”
Jack Carter: “A guy is fine too.”
“……”
Grace Sawyer stared at them and suddenly blurted out, “Aren’t you guys chasing after my brother?”
Ethan Sawyer: “……”
Brian Brooks looked over in horror. “Little sister, you can’t just say things like that!”
Jack Carter sat up on the bed, looked thoughtfully at Ethan Sawyer, and stroked his chin. “Now that you mention it, Ethan Sawyer does look pretty handsome.”
A vein twitched on Ethan Sawyer’s forehead. “You two, get lost.”
Henry Bennett laughed silently on the side, slung a pure black backpack over his shoulder, and headed out. “I’m leaving first, you guys chat.” Halfway out, he suddenly remembered something, stopped, and rubbed Grace Sawyer’s head. “That doll, if you want it, just take it.”
With that, he left the dorm.
Brian Brooks sighed. “Let’s head out too.”
Jack Carter: “Yeah, I’m hungry.”
Ethan Sawyer looked at Grace Sawyer. “Kid, do you want to have hotpot?”
Grace Sawyer was silent for a few seconds, then shook her head. “I’m going home.”
“Then something else?” Ethan Sawyer frowned. “I’ll take you home after we eat.”
Grace Sawyer shook her head again.
Ethan Sawyer lost patience and stood up. “Think about it yourself, I’m going to the bathroom.”
Grace Sawyer also stood up quietly, moved Henry Bennett’s chair back to its place. Then, she noticed the plush toy on his desk, hesitated, picked it up, and looked a little down.
Jack Carter was putting on his shoes and happened to see what Grace Sawyer was doing. He blurted out, “Henry Bennett still hasn’t thrown that thing away? Is he crazy?”
Hearing this, Brian Brooks glanced over too. “He seems to use it as a decoration on his bed.”
Jack Carter: “Isn’t it creepy to have that thing next to you when you sleep?”
Grace Sawyer gripped the plush toy a little tighter, mustered her courage, and pretended to ask curiously, “Did Henry’s girlfriend give him this?”
Brian Brooks immediately said, “What girlfriend? He doesn’t have time for a girlfriend.”
Jack Carter: “Yeah, he’s as busy as a dog.”
Brian Brooks: “Then why don’t I have a girlfriend even though I’m not busy?”
“Isn’t it obvious? Because you’re ugly.” Jack Carter looked at the doll in Grace Sawyer’s hand, thought for a moment, “I think that doll was a prize Henry Bennett got from some competition, if I remember right.”
Brian Brooks: “Yeah, it was last semester.”
Hearing this, Grace Sawyer loosened her grip on the toy and let out a soft breath.
