Chapter 11

Grace Sawyer actually didn’t know how old he was. But hearing him say that, and thinking of Ethan Sawyer’s age, she kept a straight face and said unhappily, “You are pretty old.”

“……”

You are pretty old.

Pretty old.

Old.

Even though Henry Bennett didn’t really care about age, hearing those words still felt like a stab to the chest.

Just turned twenty and already labeled as “old,” Henry Bennett didn’t know how to describe his feelings at that moment. He slowly exhaled and asked, enunciating each word, “I’m old?”

Grace Sawyer nodded again. “You’re old.”

“……”

A few seconds of silence.

“Kid, you think I’m old,” Henry Bennett stared straight at her, probably finding it all too absurd, so much so that he couldn’t help but laugh, “then why don’t you call me uncle?”

“Oh.” Grace Sawyer thought about it, found it reasonable, and immediately changed her address, “Uncle.”

“……”

The girl’s eyes were round and big, clear and pure, without a trace of impurity. She spoke with such seriousness, as if every word she said came from the bottom of her heart.

With the most innocent expression, she twisted the knife in his wound.

At this moment, Lucas Brooks interrupted their conversation. He poured a glass of water for Henry Bennett, and said a bit awkwardly, “Sorry, please sit for a while. I drank too much water, I need to use the restroom.”

Henry Bennett adjusted his mood and replied, “Alright.”

Maybe out of boredom, after Lucas Brooks left, Henry Bennett turned his head and started arguing with Grace Sawyer again about what just happened: “You know, if you call me that, your brother would have to call me that too, right?”

Grace Sawyer answered honestly, “I didn’t know.”

Henry Bennett: “So, should it be brother or uncle?”

Grace Sawyer thought for a moment, then reluctantly said, “Then I’ll just call you brother.”

Henry Bennett’s expression relaxed, and he said leisurely, “You really look out for your brother, huh.”

“What do you mean look out for him?” Grace Sawyer didn’t get it. “Why would I look out for him? He’s always bullying me. I just don’t want him to call you uncle.”

“Why?”

“He looks older than you.”

“……”

He hadn’t expected that answer. Henry Bennett was stunned for a moment, then suddenly burst out laughing, and repeated, trying to hold back his laughter, “Ethan Sawyer looks older than me?”

Grace Sawyer: “Yeah.”

Even though he’d won the “old” contest,

Henry Bennett was still in a great mood. He cleared his throat and asked, pretending to be modest, “Kid, how can you tell he looks older than me?” After saying that, he added, “I think we look about the same.”

Grace Sawyer looked him over, then quickly lowered her gaze and said mildly, “There’s still a bit of a difference.”

“……”

The next second, a woman knocked on the open office door, glanced over, looking a bit shy: “Hello, is Charles Foster’s homeroom teacher here?”

Teacher Zhang quickly stood up: “Yes! You must be Zhengchu’s sister?”

The woman smiled with her lips pressed together and walked in, “That’s right.”

After standing for so long, Charles Foster couldn’t help but complain, “Sis, what took you so long?”

Grace Sawyer looked over as well.

The woman’s features resembled Charles Foster’s a bit. She wore a white dress, looking very much like a student. She had light makeup, pale lips, and a delicate, striking face. She explained to Charles Foster in a low voice, “I came right after class, it’s a bit far.”

After speaking, the woman noticed Henry Bennett sitting in the chair. Her gaze lingered for two seconds before quickly looking away, and her tone seemed even more nervous: “Sorry, Teacher Zhang, did I keep you waiting?”

Teacher Zhang waved her hand, “It’s fine, thank you for making the trip.”

Because of what Grace Sawyer had just said, Henry Bennett had been laughing for a while. At this moment, the corners of his mouth were still upturned, and his gaze hadn’t shifted, still fixed on Grace Sawyer: “When is your teacher coming back?”

Grace Sawyer withdrew her gaze: “Should be soon.”

“Little Grace Sawyer, your brother is a bit bored.” Henry Bennett teased her out of boredom, “Why don’t you say something nice to cheer me up?”

Grace Sawyer looked at him suspiciously, “Like what?”

“Just say,” Henry Bennett didn’t even think, “Brother Jiaxu is the most handsome in the world.”

“I’m not a parrot.” Grace Sawyer was not pleased.

“I just want you to compliment me.” Henry Bennett said, “I’m not treating you like a parrot.”

Grace Sawyer refused, “I don’t want to.”

Henry Bennett wasn’t angry, and teased in a drawn-out tone, “Stingy.”

At this moment, Lucas Brooks, who had gone to the restroom, finally came back. He sat down and said with a smile, “Sorry, my stomach suddenly felt a bit off.”

Henry Bennett: “It’s fine, no rush.”

Then, he pushed the untouched glass of water on the table in front of Grace Sawyer and asked, “Thirsty?”

The “stingy” one didn’t respond.

Henry Bennett tapped the side of the glass twice with his knuckle, “Drink some water.”

Then he looked at Lucas Brooks, listening to him seriously.

Only then did Grace Sawyer pick up the glass and take a silent sip. Looking at the empty table, and remembering that he hadn’t had any water since he arrived, she hesitated for a moment, then finally walked over to the water dispenser and poured him a glass of water.
