Chapter 16

Emily Bolton uploaded her latest, carefully edited photos to the forum. The post she had made earlier had already become a hot topic, and to keep up the momentum, she kept updating with photos of Eric Bennett.

Lz301L: [photo][photo] Can’t our school organize a campus heartthrob contest? He’d be the undisputed champion!

The thread quickly filled up with replies

302L: These photos are so clear, wow! That face is amazing, so fair, you can’t even see any pores. OP, which class are you in? I want to come take a look!

303L: The person above must be a first-year. This is a third-year senior. Every year there’s a thread, every year people ask which class he’s in.

309L: So handsome, I can’t stop staring, slurp slurp

317L: OP, post a few more, more more! I’ve saved them all already, I have to show all my girlfriends his photos!

Emily Bolton happily exited her own post and browsed through the later threads. None of them had as many replies as hers, which made her even prouder. This was the first time she’d gotten so much attention!

  So happy!

At the dormitory of No. 5 High School, Julia King received some photos from her younger sister Olivia King, who was studying in Nanyang. Olivia King sounded very smug, “This is the campus heartthrob at our school. Does your school have one? Is he as handsome as ours?”

Julia King zoomed in on the photo and examined it carefully before replying, “He’s alright.”

  Olivia King: “Just alright?”

  Olivia King: [photo][photo]

Olivia King: Look at the pictures carefully before you answer.

  Julia King: “Just so-so.”

Olivia King got angry: “Bullshit, you call this so-so? In your eyes, is there any man besides your dumbass boyfriend?”

Julia King said, “Why are you swearing? Careful or I’ll screenshot this and tell Mom.”

Olivia King immediately softened her tone, “I’ll give you another chance. Be honest, listen to your heart. There are plenty of tall, handsome guys in the world. Why settle for a second-rate, handicapped boyfriend?”

Julia King looked carefully at the new photos she sent, then suddenly asked, “Don’t you think your school’s heartthrob looks a bit like my boyfriend?”

Olivia King: “Pfft, your dumbass boyfriend can’t compare to him! He should look in the mirror—only Pigsy looks like him!”

Julia King: “…Kids shouldn’t use bad language.”

Olivia King said, “I’m just being honest.”

Julia King said, “…They just look a little bit alike, that’s all. Adam Bennett really isn’t as good-looking as him.”

Olivia King said happily, “Then break up with Adam Bennett, and I’ll help you get this guy’s number.”

Before Julia King could reply, Adam Bennett called. Julia King hesitated for a moment, then answered.

“Babe, do you have any money on you? Lend me 50 first.”

“…” Julia King said, “I lent you 300 before, and you haven’t paid me back yet.”

Adam Bennett snapped, “Do you have to be so distant with me? Fine, are you seeing someone else? No wonder you’ve been so cold to me lately, turns out you’ve got someone else outside…”

Seeing him get more and more ridiculous, Julia King had to cut him off: “That’s not what I meant. I’m in the dorm now. Come over, I’ll go downstairs and give it to you.”

Adam Bennett’s tone changed immediately, “I knew you were the best, babe. Love you.”

Julia King straightened her clothes, sighed, and left the dorm to go downstairs.

As soon as she left, the others in the dorm started chatting, “Julia King’s boyfriend is borrowing money from her again. Tsk, and she actually dares to lend it.”

“She’s just that desperate for a guy, so pathetic.”

At the dorm entrance, Julia King handed a fifty-yuan bill to Adam Bennett and asked, “What do you need the money for?”

Adam Bennett replied, “For the bus. I’m going to Nanyang to find someone.”

Julia King asked, “Who are you looking for?”

Adam Bennett said, “I have something to do with someone.”

Then, acting all mysterious, he added, “If it works out, I might transfer to Nanyang.”

Julia King was surprised, “Transfer in senior year?”

It’s really hard to transfer in senior year.

Adam Bennett didn’t say much more, just waved his hand and left.

Julia King then told Olivia King about it, asking her to keep an eye on Adam Bennett over there.

Olivia King sneered, “Keep an eye on him? He’s a teenager, does he still need you to be his mom?”

Julia King sent her a red envelope, “Please.”

Olivia King took the money and reluctantly agreed.

Following Julia King’s request, Olivia King went to wait for Adam Bennett at the school gate when he was about to arrive.

The security at Nanyang High wasn’t strict. As long as you didn’t look like a troublemaker, they usually let you in.

Adam Bennett looked clean and decent, so the guard didn’t even move from his chair.

Olivia King looked at Adam Bennett, who was a bit shorter than her, and couldn’t help showing a look of disdain. “Adam Bennett, over here.”

Adam Bennett saw her, strode over, looked Olivia King up and down, and said, “You and your sister really do look alike.”

Olivia King rolled her eyes, “We’re twins, of course we look alike.”

Adam Bennett’s gaze landed on her chest, which was bigger than Julia King’s. Olivia King loudly and disgustedly demanded, “Who are you here to see?! Once you’re done, hurry back to your No. 5 High!”
