Owen Grant: "I can be your eyes and let you see ghosts."
He thought no one could resist such a temptation. After all, being able to see ghosts in a horror movie meant you could be the first to run away, greatly increasing your chances of survival.
Ethan Clark pulled out a tissue to wipe his hands, let out a sneer, and said, "There's a price, right? Like, burning your life away?"
He spoke smoothly and casually, as if he had known all along but just couldn't be bothered to say it.
Owen Grant was stunned, his hands trembling uncontrollably, unable to speak for a long while.
"So that's why you look so pale, coughing up blood, looking half-dead. You can see ghosts, but it's at the cost of not being able to see people, right? Yin-Yang eyes? Every time you use them, it drains your life?"
Owen Grant was caught completely off guard, not knowing how to respond at all. He never expected that just by mentioning it, Ethan Clark would instantly figure out the whole story, sharp to a terrifying degree.
"Mr. Clark..."
"There's no such thing as a free lunch in this world. If there were, we wouldn't be here," Ethan Clark laughed. "You even called me 'bro', what else could I do to you?"
"I do like using people, but I like relying on myself even more."
Ethan Clark coughed lightly twice, secretly adding in his heart, "and relying on my boyfriend."
Owen Grant was about to say something else when Ethan Clark suddenly went "huh": "That's strange, where are the two boiled eggs I left on the table?"
"..." That little bit of emotion Owen Grant felt was instantly suppressed.
Suddenly, in the silence, the two of them heard the sound of boiled eggs rolling across the floor, rolling over and then rolling back, as if something was having a great time playing with those two eggs.
With a "clack," the power on the fifth floor tripped as expected, and it was pitch black all around.
[The thermal camera seemed to flash for a moment]
[Ahhhh shit, the fluorescent powder on the floor is working, damn, there are footprints on the floor!! Footprints getting closer!!]
[Such small footprints, must be a little ghost]
[He's really amazing]
...
"Mr. Clark, the headless baby boy! Right in front of you! Run!" In the darkness, Owen Grant opened his Yin-Yang eyes and saw the thing, shouting at the top of his lungs.
Ethan Clark saw the small footprints on the floor in front of him, but he didn't move.
This little ghost's sole purpose definitely wasn't to kill. If it was, it wouldn't be playing with his boiled eggs. The little ghost was playful—maybe he could use that.
Headless...?
Ethan Clark suddenly thought of the baby head Gu's head.
The Gu had an extra head, the baby boy was missing one—could it be...
Ethan Clark's eyes narrowed.
Having been called out, the little ghost didn't bother hiding anymore, appearing clearly before Ethan Clark.
The baby boy's head was torn off at the root, its whereabouts unknown. From the gruesome wound on his neck, blood was oozing out, so black it gleamed.
With a "plop," a drop of black blood fell to the floor, and visibly, the tile was corroded, leaving a hole.
Owen Grant heard the sizzling sound of corrosion and said in terror, "The blood is highly poisonous! Mr. Clark, don't touch him!"
But Ethan Clark was staring at the little ghost. The little ghost's clothes were tattered, not a single spot of good flesh on his body. The once fair and tender skin was covered with... marks of poisonous insects biting him. Ethan Clark could even see maggot-like eggs in the deep wounds.
Highly poisonous? Poisonous insect bites? The poisonous insects used to raise the baby head Gu? Could it be that the Gu worm was raised on the corpse of the baby boy?
The baby boy's head...?
A flash of inspiration hit Ethan Clark, and he had a terrifying guess.
The baby boy's head was swallowed by the Gu worm that won the fight, and had completely grown onto the Gu worm's head.
"Big brother, aren't you afraid of me?" The baby boy's voice still carried the confusion of someone new to the world, shrill and childishly conflicted.
Ethan Clark: "I'm not afraid."
Baby boy: "Big brother, I really like you. Play a game with me. If you win tonight, I won't kill you or that annoying guy."
The baby boy turned to face Owen Grant behind the sofa.
Owen Grant didn't even dare to breathe.
"Alright," Ethan Clark said calmly, "what are we playing?"
The baby boy didn't answer, and slowly walked toward the billiards room on the fifth floor, black blood constantly dripping from his severed neck, leaving a deep corrosive trail on the floor.
The app chimed—
[Personal storyline updated: The agreement with the baby boy—Actor Ethan Clark will play a game of snooker with the baby boy. If he wins, he will safely make it through the night; if he loses, run for your life.]
Even though he was blind, Owen Grant was still frantically winking at Ethan Clark, the meaning clear: if you can't handle it, just run.
Ethan Clark gave him an OK sign—he knew how to play snooker.
The baby boy played catch with the two boiled eggs as he walked. Since he had no head, he couldn't see the eggs and missed them. With two "plop" sounds, the eggs hit the floor and broke.
The baby boy turned to Ethan Clark: "Big brother, your two eggs are broken."
Ethan Clark and Owen Grant: "..."
Chapter 6: The Vengeful Spirit in Red (5)
Ethan Clark was starting to doubt the little ghost's age.
He pretended not to understand, picked up the eggs and handed them over, smiling, "It's fine, they're hard-boiled. Wipe them off and you can eat them. My eggs are super tasty."
The little ghost froze for a moment, not reaching out.
Owen Grant silently thought, "Impressive," and stifled a laugh behind him.
The little ghost didn't respond again, leading the two of them to push open the door to the billiards room.
