Chapter 6

Ethan Clark hadn’t expected that anyone would have such an ability, but after seeing so many strange people and bizarre events over the years, he accepted it quickly.

He thought for a moment, half-smiling: “So you bumped into me on purpose just now?”

Clearly, with the ability to sense general directions with your mind, how could you have run straight into him by accident?

“Huh?” The topic changed too fast; Owen Grant’s mind didn’t catch up. He was stunned for quite a while before thinking, “Damn,” this guy reacts fast.

He was silent for a moment, then had to admit awkwardly, “…Yes, because you haven’t shown any emotional fluctuation since you came in, you must be really strong, so I wanted to see if I could… find someone powerful to rely on.”

The more Owen Grant spoke, the quieter his voice became, clearly ashamed of his attempt to latch onto someone.

“…After all, I’m totally useless in a fight, thick-skinned, and blind.”

Although Owen Grant had some special abilities, they couldn’t help him survive, so he was desperate to find a teammate to stick with.

Suddenly, Ethan Clark’s voice came from above: “Do you know why I haven’t shown any emotional fluctuation?”

Owen Grant instinctively asked, “Why… isn’t it because you’re so strong that you’re not afraid?”

“You guessed wrong,” Ethan Clark’s eyes were teasing, his voice calm, “Actually, it’s because I’m dead inside and came here seeking death.”

Owen Grant “!!!” He picked the wrong person to rely on!

Owen Grant fell into deep despair.

It was only after hearing a soft laugh from above a long while later that he realized he’d been tricked.

Ethan Clark stopped joking and said blandly, “Follow if you want, up to you, but don’t play any tricks.”

“Just so you know, I’m also useless in a fight, so don’t expect anything from me. If we run into a ghost, I’ll definitely run faster than you.”

Owen Grant: “……”

Owen Grant felt a little disappointed, but thinking that Ethan Clark had reluctantly accepted him, he was instantly overjoyed.

Ethan Clark shot a cold glance at Caleb Turner, the tall, muscular man.

Caleb Turner happened to look back, his eyes filled with undisguised desire and predation. Just as he was about to come over, all the actors’ phones suddenly vibrated violently.

Ethan Clark opened the app.

[All actors in position. The horror film “Red-Clad Wraith” has officially begun. The “audience” has entered to watch.]

Ethan Clark was quite curious about what exactly this “audience” was. Who would take pleasure in the actors’ pain, struggle, and gruesome deaths? And who could watch them nonstop for seven days and nights?

Are they even human?

But that wasn’t something he needed to think about right now.

At this moment, the “audience” who had just entered to watch:

[I only came because I heard Caleb Turner is in this one, hehe, adult film incoming!]

[Bro, you’re my kind of people! Otherwise, I’d have gone next door to watch the unsolvable ghost film—better quality, and the ghosts slaughter people, so damn satisfying. Not like this one, same old tricks, slow pace.]

[Look, I even followed Caleb Turner just so I wouldn’t miss his new gay film. Wonder who he’ll torment this time.]

[Isn’t it obvious? That gentle guy with glasses.]

[Caleb Turner is pretty lame, honestly. He’s good enough to get into higher-quality films, but insists on sticking to newbie films. Probably scared of dying, what a coward.]

[Caleb Turner is strong, okay? Maybe he doesn’t have any flashy moves, but he can fight and run. I heard he was a fitness coach before acting.]

……

As the phone vibrations faded, the plot slowly unfolded.

The voices of passersby on the street suddenly grew louder, just enough for the actors to hear:

“That haunted company is hiring again?”

“Did you forget? The Ghost Festival is coming up, that thing is about to start causing trouble again…”

“Why do these people risk their lives for money? I heard all the ones hired last year died…”

“Didn’t you see their job posting? Just seven days, a million per person. Wouldn’t you be tempted?”

“Only people desperate for money would take this kind of job…”

……

A few newcomers looked slightly alarmed at the words “haunted” and “that thing causing trouble,” but didn’t lose their composure.

Everyone who came here had a wish they wanted to fulfill, and the determination to risk everything for it.

A sharply dressed woman walked out of the revolving door, wearing a black suit, pencil skirt, and black high heels, holding a blue folder. She was probably a secretary-type NPC. She glanced disdainfully at the scattered crowd and said arrogantly, “Follow me inside to sign the contract.”

Owen Grant muttered under his breath, “I feel like she’s looking at us like we’re already dead. Who does she think she is?”

Ethan Clark was helpless.

Caleb Turner moved first, and the newcomers hurried after him, with Ethan Clark and Owen Grant bringing up the rear.

The secretary said from the front, “This afternoon you’ll sign a contract, and tonight you’ll officially start work.”

“Work at night?!” the skinny, dark-skinned newcomer exclaimed.

The secretary looked back at him with disdain: “Wasn’t it made clear during recruitment?”

“Let me say it again, so listen carefully! Work starts at 10 p.m. and ends at 5 a.m. During work hours, the main door downstairs will be locked. Once you finish your tasks, you can sleep or do whatever you want, but you can’t leave the building.”

Everyone felt a chill in their hearts.

What did it mean for the main door to be locked? It meant they’d have to spend the whole night in a completely sealed office building.

The app had a new message notification—
