Chapter 26: All in the Family

That night, Vivian tossed and turned on her small wooden bed.

Her roommates had already fallen asleep after their late-night chat, but she remained wide awake. Perhaps it was normal not to be able to sleep after such a day.

She turned over again, still unable to sleep, so Vivian simply sat up, hugging her thin blanket, resting her chin on her knees, and sighed. Her mood wasn't troubled or gloomy, but the overwhelming emotions seemed to be best expressed with a sigh.

It was as if exhaling could lessen the turmoil in her heart.

Nai Shawn.

His image appeared in her mind, sometimes still, sometimes moving, sometimes speaking, sometimes smiling. The emotions she had just exhaled seemed to return, filling her up again.

After sitting with the blanket for a long time, Vivian finally felt a bit sleepy. She lay down and slept for a while, vaguely hearing some noise from the next bed before falling into a deep sleep. Until the early morning, she was suddenly shaken awake and saw Erica standing by her bed, looking weak and saying, "Vivian, I've had diarrhea three times, I can't take it anymore."

Vivian was startled and immediately woke up, quickly getting out of bed to find medicine for her. But taking the medicine didn't help, and Erica had diarrhea twice more in half an hour, her face turning pale. Sally and Cecilia also got up after hearing the commotion, and the three of them realized something was wrong, quickly getting dressed to take Erica to see a doctor.

Given the school's night clinic's notorious reputation, they didn't dare take Erica there. They left through the west gate, hailed a night taxi, and went to a nearby major hospital. The doctor asked about the situation, did a small test, and diagnosed it as acute gastroenteritis, requiring an IV.

Once Erica was settled with the IV on a temporary bed, the three of them relaxed a bit and decided that not all three needed to stay. So, they let Sally go back first, while Vivian and Cecilia stayed to accompany her.

After the IV, Erica had diarrhea two more times, but then felt much better, allowing Vivian and Cecilia to catch a nap. However, the sleep was uncomfortable, and Vivian woke up soon after, finding Erica also awake, looking somewhat recovered. Vivian checked her watch; it was already seven o'clock.

Erica weakly said, "Vivian, that snack last night was bought by Master Shawn, right?"

"Yes."

"Sigh~~ Divine things are indeed not for mere mortals like me to digest."

Even in this state, she had the energy to joke, making Vivian laugh and cry at the same time. She stood up to tuck Erica in. Thinking of Nai Shawn mentioned by Erica, Vivian couldn't help but get distracted. It was seven o'clock now, probably time to call the great god and tell him not to wait for her. For some reason, the thought of not having to study with the great god today made her feel relieved.

Her mind was no longer in the ward, and her expression became a bit absent-minded. Erica, half-lying down, watched her in a daze. She had always known Vivian was beautiful, but seeing her often made it seem normal. Yet now, as she gently tucked her in with a thoughtful expression and bright, sparkling eyes, she looked more stunning than ever.

The two of them, one standing and one lying down, were lost in their thoughts in silence. Suddenly, the room darkened, and Vivian instinctively looked towards the door.

Nai Shawn was standing at the door, his deep eyes gazing at her.

They returned to school in the car Nai Shawn drove, a very ordinary and low-key brand. Vivian sat in the front passenger seat, while Erica, Cecilia, and Sally sat in the back.

On the way, Vivian heard Erica whispering to Sally, "Why did Senior Brother Shawn come with you?"

Sally explained quietly, "I called David, and he told Senior Brother Shawn, who then said it would be convenient for him to drive over."

Erica said worriedly, "I feel like it's not quite right."

Cecilia said, "You don't have to feel bad, Senior Brother Shawn is one of us."

Vivian listened in the front seat, her face darkening. Did they think their voices were low? They were blatantly talking nonsense, calling him one of us. They were too familiar!

Erica was still worried, "But, the great god's car, we mere..."

Vivian quickly interrupted her, afraid she would say something like mere mortals shouldn't ride in the great god's car, "Cecilia is right, one of us, one of us!"

The car fell silent, and Vivian realized what she had said in her panic, losing the courage to turn back.

With a smile, Nai Shawn glanced at the person beside him trying to minimize her presence and said, "You haven't had breakfast yet, right? Let's eat something before going back."

At that moment, Vivian felt immensely grateful to the great god for helping her out. He was so considerate, sob sob.

Sally looked at Vivian, seeing she had no intention of speaking, and politely declined, "No need, we've already troubled Senior Brother a lot today."

Nai Shawn smiled slightly, "We're all in the family, no need to be polite."

Vivian: "..."

She knew it, consideration was just a fleeting cloud...

In the end, they did have breakfast. Although Erica had no appetite, she felt uncomfortable with an empty stomach and forced herself to eat some porridge. After eating, Nai Shawn thoughtfully drove them to the dormitory.

Vivian walked back to the dormitory with steps even weaker than Erica's, opened the door, and went straight to bed.

If only time could go back, she would definitely keep silent, silence is golden! Sigh~~ It turns out that lack of sleep affects one's reaction speed so much.

Vivian lay in bed, feeling more and more regretful, tossing and turning even more than last night. Eventually, she rolled around and fell asleep without realizing it.

She slept until noon, finally waking up to the smell of food. Sally had already messaged David to bring four meals to the dormitory, of course, Erica's was still porridge.

Vivian got out of bed to eat, surprised to see Erica already playing on the computer, looking much better. Vivian asked worriedly, "You're not feeling unwell anymore?"

Even a cockroach wouldn't recover this fast, right?

"Just browsing the web, it's nothing." Erica said excitedly, "Vivian, there are so many posts about you and Nai Shawn on the school forum! And there are photos of you two holding hands at the basketball court yesterday!"

Vivian, who had just picked up her lunchbox, choked a bit, moved closer to look, and indeed saw a photo of the great god holding her hand at the basketball court. The person who took the photo was probably a bit far away, so the people looked small, but it was definitely Bella Vivian and Nai Shawn.

Vivian lost her appetite, put the lunchbox aside, took Erica's computer, and looked for herself.

Erica said, "You don't need to look, there's nothing much, just a lot of people not believing it at first, then being shocked when the photos came out, and everyone gossiping about when you two started. Haha, by the way, that old post saying you two were the least compatible has been brought up again."

Vivian browsed a few posts, finding them as Erica described, returned the computer, and continued eating, "Our school's people are too gossipy."

"Well, exams are coming, the closer to exams, the more gossipy people get. It's the legendary stress relief!"

The logic was sound, but being the topic of stress relief...

Vivian could only take a big bite of ribs to express her frustration!

As they were almost done eating, the dormitory phone rang. Sally went to answer it, and after a moment, called out to Vivian, "Vivian, it's a call from one of us!"

Vivian awkwardly went to answer, and after saying hello, a voice came from the other end.

"Awake?"

The voice on the phone was deep, different from how it sounded in person. Vivian suddenly realized this was her first phone call with the great god.

"Yes, I'm awake."

"Are you going to study this afternoon?"

"I want to study, but it's too late to find a seat now." Seats are always tight near the end of the semester.

That was indeed a problem. Nai Shawn pondered for a moment and said, "There's a quiet place, I'll take you there."

*** *** ***

Vivian's dormitory building was one of the Republic of China-style buildings built by A University a few years ago. The brick-red building was square and dignified, nestled among lush green trees, creating a beautiful and pleasant environment. In front of the dormitory, there were always groups of admirers of the girls in the building, holding flowers or gifts, a common sight. However, today, with a different person standing there, everything seemed strangely out of place.

Vivian stepped out of the building and immediately saw Nai Shawn. He stood calmly by the flower bed, as always, with a bicycle beside him.

Under the gaze of many, Vivian walked to Nai Shawn's side. Having come down the stairs a bit quickly, she was slightly out of breath, her cheeks tinged with pink, her eyes bright and sparkling.

"Where are we going?"

"I'll take you." Nai Shawn casually took the bag she was holding and hung it on the bike.

It was Vivian's second time riding Nai Shawn's bike, and she felt much more at ease than the first time. If she had to choose now, she would prefer riding the bike. Walking side by side with the great god seemed to require more courage. As for the stares from people along the way...

The photos were already online, so why worry? Just ignore them all.

Not paying much attention, Vivian didn't notice the route was wrong until the bike exited the west gate. "Aren't we going to study?"

"The place is outside."

Exiting A University's west gate and turning a corner led to China's famous high-tech computer park. After about ten minutes, Nai Shawn stopped in front of a building and took Vivian to the sixth floor.

As soon as they exited the elevator, Vivian saw the four golden characters "ZyTech" and was stunned, a thought suddenly crossing her mind. Could this be...

"Your company?"

"Yes." Nai Shawn opened the closed door, "Come in, it's Sunday, no one is here."

With a sense of reverence, Vivian cautiously stepped into his domain, her head slightly turning left and right as she looked around.

Nai Shawn's company wasn't large, about half a floor, but software companies generally didn't need much space, more would be a waste. Although no one was there, the company still felt vibrant, possibly due to the open and free office layout or the casual and personalized decorations on the desks they passed.

Nai Shawn led her inside, finally opening a door with "Nai Shawn" written on the nameplate.

The great god's office?

With curiosity, Vivian carefully stepped in, focusing on exploring this new space, completely unaware she had been lured to a place with no one else.

Nai Shawn calmly turned on the air conditioning and placed Vivian's bag on the sofa.

"Is this a good place to study?"

Vivian nodded and sat on the sofa. Nai Shawn didn't bother her further, turning on his computer to work.

The air conditioning silently blew cool air, sweeping away the heat brought in from outside. In such a comfortable and clean environment, Vivian held her book but found it hard to concentrate.

As the great god said, it was very quiet here, but the silence was a bit unsettling, especially when Vivian finally realized they were the only two people here...

Not hearing the sound of pages turning, Nai Shawn glanced at her, seeing her obviously distracted, and said, "Vivian, come and look at something."

Huh?

Vivian put down her book and ran to his side, looking at his computer. On the screen were several exquisitely designed, beautifully dressed ancient characters.

"What is this?"

"The basic character designs for 'Dreaming of Jianghu 2'."
