Part 12: White Robe and Red Shadow

George Yu came up after a while, looking weak and said, "I'm injured."

Mozar Ta shushed him, "A man falling on his butt and calling it an injury."

George Yu was embarrassed and angry, "Internal injury! I mean internal injury!"

Vivian said, ">o<, you guys live together, huh."

Actually, Vivian had already sensed from their conversations that they knew each other in real life and seemed to be senior students, because she once saw them talking about graduation internships. However, Vivian was never curious about others' real-life matters in the game, so she never asked. This time, it just slipped out.

Monkey Wine answered, "We're in the same dorm."

As expected!

Vivian unconsciously looked at Naihe, so the great god is also a student like her? Why does it feel a bit unbelievable, the great god should be...

>_>

Can't think of what he should be...

George Yu said, "Sister-in-law, Naihe often doesn't come back at night, you should keep an eye on him."

Mozar Ta added, "He doesn't come back during the day either!"

Vivian was embarrassed.

Naihe said, "The moment there are no socks of yours in the dorm for half a month, I'll move back immediately."

Mozar Ta immediately said, "You better stay outside."

Vivian sweated, she had heard that some guys accumulate a dozen pairs of socks to wash at once, didn't expect these guys were like that. Suddenly, she remembered George Yu and the others talking about hacking computers before, and couldn't help but ask suspiciously, "Are you guys studying computer science?"

"Correct!"

What a coincidence = =

Vivian said, "...I am too."

"......"

"So you're a junior!"

George Yu climbed the mountain, "Oh no, the computer science department has nine men to one woman, and the junior is so fierce, could it be that she's actually a junior brother!"

Vivian said, ">o<"

Vivian was a bit embarrassed by what he said, "Am I really that fierce? I mean the opening line..."

She actually shocked George Yu into an internal injury.

George Yu said, "No, no, it's great, it's great, the effect was deafening."

Deafening...

Vivian felt she also had an internal injury, using "deafening" like that, she wondered if George Yu's previous Chinese teacher would cry.

Monkey Wine suggested, "It's good, but the 'leave the man behind' part should be changed, there are four men here, who knows which one you're trying to rob, the audience might misunderstand."

Naihe said, "There won't be any misunderstanding, no need to change it."

Monkey Wine was puzzled, "???"

Naihe said, "You guys aren't worth robbing."

And so...

The PK started again with great fanfare, this time it was three against one.

Vivian looked up at the sky speechlessly, she hadn't even started robbing, and the ones being robbed had already started infighting.

In short, with George Yu participating despite his injuries, and after countless jokes, the video was finally preliminarily recorded two days later.

The plot after the robbery was still written by Vivian, who, in order to extend the time, used every cliché and melodramatic trope possible, drawing from the strengths of various TV dramas.

The specific plot is as follows:

The white-robed musician was taken back to the bandit's lair (the game had a bandit hideout scene), the female bandit admired his gentle and handsome demeanor, trying every way to win his favor, but the white-robed musician remained unmoved, silent all day, playing the zither by the lotus pond in the back mountain.

The female bandit finally decided to let him go, but was reluctant, secretly following him. Just as the white-robed musician encountered a monster and was about to die, the female bandit jumped out to save him. The musician was moved and accepted the female bandit, who happily prepared for the wedding. Unexpectedly, on the wedding night, soldiers (played by George Yu and the others shouting outside the bandit lair to bring in newcomers, a bunch of new players rushed in, ready-made extras!) attacked the mountain. The bandits (NPCs in the bandit lair, only level 20) were drunk and offered no resistance, being slaughtered. The female bandit was highly skilled, the soldiers couldn't catch her, so they turned to attack the musician. The female bandit protected the musician, but the musician drew a sword from his zither and stabbed it into the female bandit's back without hesitation.

It turned out, the white-robed musician was actually an imperial envoy, sent as an undercover agent because the bandits had been taking advantage of the complex terrain and couldn't be eradicated.

The ending was the essence of melodrama.

After the female bandit's death, the white-robed musician suddenly realized he had fallen in love with her, and jumped off the Sunset Peak with her body.

...

Alright, Vivian admitted, this was just a parody >o<

Vivian thought this script would surely be rejected by everyone, but unexpectedly, everyone thought it was good. However, upon further research, the reason Naihe thought it was good was because—he had few lines.

George Yu and the others were happy because—they didn't expect to have more appearances later, and as positive characters, they were ecstatic!

Vivian could only be speechless again, truly a group of computer science students, no artistic cells...

However, a few days later, when Naihe finished the post-production of the video and sent it to her, Vivian regretfully took back the words "no artistic cells."

The ones without artistic cells were her and George Yu and the others, definitely not including the great god!

The great god, the great god, omnipotent!

The day she received the video, Vivian had an evening class again. When she returned to the dorm and logged into the game, Naihe was already offline, leaving her a message.

"I have something to do, logging off first, the video has been sent to your mailbox."

Vivian hurriedly opened her mailbox.

The post-production of the video included editing, music, subtitles, art, etc. Vivian originally wanted to figure it out herself, because she was only a sophomore and definitely had more free time than seniors. However, Naihe said he would do it, and out of unconditional trust in the great god, Vivian had no objections at all.

It took more than ten minutes to download the video, and Vivian couldn't wait to open it. Just a few seconds in, the opening alone stunned her.

It was so exquisite.

Actually, it was simple too, just black background and red text, but Naihe somehow found such fitting characters, powerful and free-spirited, decomposed into strokes and written on, with a light effect, a layer of light passing over the characters, simple yet luxurious, very impressive.

Vivian watched the opening several times, then reluctantly continued watching.

The great god clearly put a lot of effort into it, the editing, subtitles, and music were all perfect, especially the music, which pleasantly surprised Vivian. Instead of using pop music like many competition videos, it used traditional instruments, with a cheerful flute for the robbery part, and then a guzheng, very fitting for the white-robed musician's identity.

Hmm, this flowing music should be a guzheng, Vivian wasn't familiar with instruments, as she used to secretly do homework during music appreciation classes in middle and high school, it was the first time she listened so intently like today.

Everything was impeccable, Vivian simply enjoyed it.

Although the story was a tragedy, due to the parody mindset and the many jokes during recording, Vivian watched it with great joy. However, when the plot reached the moment the white-robed musician drew his sword, the zither music suddenly turned murderous, the sword pierced the female bandit's back without pause, and the music abruptly stopped with a clang.

Vivian's heart skipped a beat.

Then, before Vivian could recover, she found the plot had changed.

Originally, the next scene should have been the white-robed musician holding the female bandit, preparing to jump off Sunset Peak, but the scene changed to the white-robed musician and the blue-robed general (played by George Yu) standing in front of a grave, quietly looking at it.

The blue-robed general said, "You didn't have to kill her."

The white-robed musician was silent, after a long time he said, "Rather than let her live hating me, it's better for her to die."

Vivian was stunned.

Suddenly realizing that from this sentence on, the white-robed musician in the video was no longer the one she had depicted in her script.

He had become a stranger shrouded in mist.

The white-robed musician then lived in a small house at the foot of the mountain, Vivian recognized it as a small scene in the game, an uninhabited place under Sunset Peak. Outside the house were a few clumps of bamboo, the white-robed musician sat in the bamboo forest playing the zither all day, or walked up to Sunset Peak, standing there quietly watching the sunset.

The blue-robed general appeared again.

"You've made great contributions, a hereditary title is within reach, why live in this desolate place?"

The white-robed musician didn't answer, just played the zither, the mythical cat running happily around him.

The scene of bamboo shadows suddenly shattered like water ripples, turning into the lotus pond in the back mountain, as if it were the musician's memory, with a hazy color. The white-robed musician was playing the zither, the female bandit sat beside him, the music had disappeared at this moment, everything was quiet, occasionally a cicada chirped, then Vivian heard her own voice.

This voice was recorded the day before yesterday when Naihe asked her to, saying it might be used. The lines were what the female bandit said before letting the musician go, extremely melodramatic, Vivian read it quickly and handed it over, not expecting it to be used.

It seemed to have been processed, her voice sounded vague and distant, as if from the void.

"My grandfather was a bandit, my father was a bandit, so I was born a bandit, I don't know what else to do, can't do anything else, and neither can the people in this whole village."

"You hate me so much, but I've never killed anyone, not the worst, but still bad."

"I also want to be like the girls down the mountain, raising some chickens and ducks, working at sunrise and resting at sunset, living a peaceful life. But this is just a dream, never to be realized."

"You go, I'll let you go."

The scene switched back, the blue-robed general angrily questioned, "You have a bright future, why waste your life in this desolate place!"

Then a light and ethereal voice said, "This is also my dream."

The entire video's dialogue was done with subtitles, only the last few lines were real voice, appearing like a thunderbolt, then abruptly stopping, the zither music resumed, mournful and desolate, gradually fading away.

The final scene was the red-clad female bandit and the white-robed musician by the lotus pond, the musician playing the zither, the bandit dancing with a knife, their clothes fluttering, vibrant and brilliant, then the scene gradually faded to black and white.

Freeze frame.

In the picture, the white-robed musician still had his white robe fluttering.

The red-clad female bandit's red clothes had turned pale.

Vivian's heart ached, her eyes suddenly wet.
