Chapter 15

Chapter Five

Matthew Green opened his eyes wide. “You didn’t take it?”

In the palm of the white-haired young man’s hand, that small white pill was lying there perfectly intact, without even a trace of moisture on it.

Henry Clark glanced at him. “Just a little trick.”

For a magician, nimble fingers are the most basic training. Even though Henry Clark’s hands were still stiff now, he was well-versed in all kinds of sleight-of-hand techniques; hiding a small pill was more than easy.

Not to mention Matthew Green, who had been by his side the whole time—even the viewers in the bullet comments were shocked.

[Wow, I clearly saw him put the pill in his mouth just now, and he even took a big gulp of water]

[Yeah, me too! And that creepy head nurse was staring at him the whole time]

[Could it be a prop??? No way, isn’t he a newbie? Where would he get a prop]

[If it’s not a prop, then he must have hidden it with skill. This trick is really impressive—this newbie is something else]

Matthew Green’s exclamation drew everyone’s attention. The other trainees in the dining hall saw the pill in Henry Clark’s hand and all had different expressions.

To be fair, whether old or new, there isn’t much difference in physical fitness.

The rules of the infinite loop are extremely harsh. Humans are always at the bottom of the food chain beneath monsters, and survivors can never escape the category of “human”—even if they have a rare chance to change race in a special high-level instance, at their core, they are still human. This is an unchangeable fact. No matter how many instances they go through, these two points never change.

Survivors can collect different props in the instance based on clues from NPCs, and rely on these props’ abilities to keep themselves alive.

After each instance, the survival points earned can be used to strengthen themselves or upgrade existing props, etc. But no matter how much you strengthen yourself, you can’t break through the limits of being human. For example, no matter how much someone boosts their strength, they can’t just lift a building out of nowhere and become the Hulk.

Moreover, compared to upgrading props, strengthening oneself requires far more survival points, so unless someone really has no useful props, they generally won’t choose to directly enhance their body.

The result is that, in an emergency, with nurses watching closely, almost all the trainees in the dining hall swallowed the pill. Although many veterans immediately ran to the trash can to induce vomiting, the pill had already reached their stomachs, so it would have some effect, more or less.

After looking around, besides Henry Clark, only three people hadn’t let the pill enter their mouths at all.

Adam Grant and Messiah are both S-rank big shots, with skills beyond imagination, so let’s not mention them. Edward Foster simply crushed the pill into powder with brute force, avoiding the nurses’ eyes.

“I knew this newbie wasn’t simple...”

Brian Cooper dug the pill out from his throat, looking grim.

As someone lucky enough to be among the S- and A-rank big shots who didn’t take the pill, Henry Clark was the focus of many heated stares.

Not only Brian Cooper, who had already been wary of him, but even Adam Grant deigned to glance at him.

Because of that move just now, Matthew Green looked at him with utter admiration, completely like a little brother looking up to his big bro. He even started calling him “Ninth Brother” sweetly, which was quite pleasing.

Earlier, the head nurse had mentioned the schedule posted on the wall, and many trainees crowded over to look.

Next to the schedule was a floor plan of the psychiatric hospital, showing all the rooms and facilities on this floor.

This was the first floor, with a dining hall, library, and a multimedia room.

“After dinner is free time... Oh, we already washed up this afternoon, lights out at ten thirty, room check at eleven.”

Matthew Green squeezed over and read aloud, word by word: “Wake up at seven tomorrow morning. Ah, we have to take medicine at a set time every night!”

The new trainees immediately turned pale, swaying on their feet.

Now that the medicine was taking effect, many people’s eyelids were drooping.

Matthew Green looked even more panicked. “What do I do, Ninth Brother, I can’t throw up the pill now.”

Henry Clark was about to speak when the blond holy son suddenly stepped out from the crowd of newbies.

“Everyone, may I say a word?”

The noisy crowd immediately fell silent.
