Chapter 20

"Evan Clark!" A voice called out from behind.

The two of them turned around and saw the TTC people standing behind them.

David Parker said, "Every exit is crowded right now. We can leave through the back door. Do you two want to come with us?"

Little Brian looked at David Parker in disbelief: "???"

Evan Clark was also stunned for a moment. "Sure, my car is parked in the back lot anyway. Ryan Cooper, I'll drive you home."

It was certainly convenient, so Ryan Cooper hesitated and gave a soft "mm," then turned to follow the TTC team.

The back door wasn't far. A staff member they knew led them a short way, and they arrived. After Mr. Harris thanked the staff, the group headed down the steps.

As soon as the match ended, a light rain began to fall. The air was filled with a cold dampness, and everyone instinctively pulled their coats tighter.

David Parker looked around. "Little Brian?"

Mr. Harris said, "He ran into someone he knows and is chatting. He'll be here soon."

The back door was connected to a long flight of steps. After everyone walked down, they stopped at the bottom.

Evan Clark said, "Thanks, we'll head off now. I have an umbrella in my car—do you want me to bring it down for you?"

"No need, our car will be here soon."

After David Parker finished speaking, he saw Little Brian just coming out the back door, hurrying down the steps. He couldn't help but say, "Little Brian, slow down, it just rained, these steps are really—"

Before he could finish, Little Brian slipped on the second-to-last step, his pale face crashing straight into the back of the person standing in front of him. "Shit—"

Ryan Cooper felt like he'd been hit by a meteorite.

He was caught completely off guard and stumbled forward, losing his balance and falling.

The person in front turned at the sound. Ryan Cooper's heart skipped a beat, but he didn't have time to change course and crashed right into that person.

Brian Carter hadn't zipped up his coat; underneath, he was wearing a soft sweater. Ryan Cooper caught a faint scent from the sweater, not sure if it was soap or body wash.

To keep his balance, Brian Carter reached out and steadied him by the back of his neck, and only then did the two of them finally stand firm.

Before Ryan Cooper could react, Brian Carter had already let go and asked, "Did it hurt?"

Feeling the vibration in the other person's chest as he spoke, Ryan Cooper felt like he'd been shocked. He immediately lifted his face away from Brian Carter's clothes and took two steps back. He shook his head at first, then a few seconds later said stiffly, "It didn't hurt."

No one caught Little Brian, so he fell flat on his face. Luckily, Ryan Cooper had cushioned him a bit, or he probably would have been bleeding.

He got up right away and went to check on Ryan Cooper. "Sorry, sorry! The ground was too slippery, I lost my balance. Did I hurt you?? I can take you to the hospital..."

Seeing that he looked like he was about to check his injuries, Ryan Cooper immediately took two steps back.

"No need," Ryan Cooper said. "Stay away from me."

Little Brian: "..."

After Ryan Cooper left with Evan Clark, Little Brian patted his chest, still shaken.

Once he calmed down, he said with a bitter face, "I crashed into him so hard just now, Soft will definitely hold a grudge and roast me hard from now on."

David Parker comforted him, "He won't."

"He definitely will! Did you see his face just now?" Little Brian wailed. "His face turned so red from anger, like a tomato... Those trolls curse him in the livestream every day and he never even gets red-faced!!"

Chapter 9

The match had just ended, and a long line of cars was jammed at the intersection next to the venue.

The car had barely moved a few steps before stopping again. Evan Clark simply shifted into park and turned to look at the passenger seat.

Ryan Cooper had his elbow propped on the window, his hand seemingly casually resting on the back of his neck, staring out the window.

Evan Clark squinted and leaned in to look at him. Sensing the gaze, Ryan Cooper suddenly turned his head. "What are you doing?"

"Why is your face still so red?" Evan Clark looked him over and said, "Where did Little Brian hit you? Should I take you to the hospital?"

Ryan Cooper covered his slightly warm neck and said, "No need, I'm not hurt, just got cold from sitting too long."

Evan Clark responded with an "oh" and sat back. "Mr. Parker is really nice, still willing to take us through the back door. Actually, I haven't been in touch with him for a long time..."

Ryan Cooper listened absentmindedly, took out his phone and glanced at it—the screen was already filled with Weibo notifications.
