Chapter 16

A man asked, “Who do you think will win the finals? I think PUD’s jungler has been pretty impressive lately. They all say he’s almost catching up to Road.”

Another person was silent for a long time before speaking: “Yeah.”

Maybe because he’d just been out in the wind, the boy’s voice was a bit low and hoarse, but the tone hadn’t changed—it matched perfectly with the voice in Brian Carter’s headphones.

Brian Carter raised an eyebrow and slowly turned his head.

The boy sitting next to him pulled his coat zipper up to his neck. Because he was looking down, Brian Carter could only see his straight nose.

The other was wearing a baseball cap, with a few tufts of blue hair poking out from the back where the cap was fastened.

On the cap was his team’s logo, and if you looked closely, you could see a printed signature beneath the logo: Road.

Before Brian Carter could recall which year’s tournament merch this cap was from, the boy spoke again, finishing his thought: “If he trains for another eight hundred years, he might just catch up.”

Chapter 7

The boy looked a bit thin, and the small section of the back of his neck exposed by his collar was very fair. He looked no different from how he did on stream—clearly, he didn’t use any face-slimming, eye-enlarging, or beauty filters during his streams.

Unlike Little Brian, who maxed out the beauty filter when he first started streaming, and whose fans, laughing hysterically, even got him trending.

Evan Clark laughed, “That’s a bit much… You really like Road, huh.”

“I’m just stating facts.” Ryan Cooper frowned. “PUD’s jungler has obvious weaknesses. He’s decent at ganking and teamfights, but his jungle invades are too weak, and he relies heavily on his teammates’ support. If his teammates don’t keep up, his jungle tempo falls apart.”

Evan Clark thought about it and realized it was true.

The reason he’d asked Ryan Cooper to come along this time was because he liked hearing Ryan Cooper analyze these things. He asked again, “What about Road?”

Ryan Cooper looked up and quietly thought for a few seconds.

Brian Carter noticed his eyelashes were very long.

Ryan Cooper said, “Road’s weakness… his teammates are too weak?”

Evan Clark: “?”

“I didn’t pay attention to the other positions, but the mid laner is terrible,” Ryan Cooper said. “All he does is farm, doesn’t roam, can’t create an advantage for himself, completely useless.”

Evan Clark commented, “That’s just professional rivalry.”

Ryan Cooper pulled his cap lower and said, “I matched with Kan on the Korean server once. I got autofilled to support, he played mid, and the enemy mid was HT’s starting mid.”

Evan Clark knew his Korean account was high-ranked, so he wasn’t surprised he could match with pros. “And then?”

“He got solo killed four times,” Ryan Cooper said nonchalantly. “I didn’t pay attention to the ID at the time, thought he was some retired nobody from another region.”

Evan Clark: “……”

Brian Carter withdrew his gaze, a helpless smile in his lowered eyes. He closed the video on his phone and stuffed his earphones into his pocket.

The match was about to start. Staff went on stage for final preparations, and the commentators were already seated at the desk. The finals atmosphere was spreading rapidly, and the arena was buzzing.

Mr. Harris only returned after greeting friends backstage. He straightened his suit and sat down, asking the person who’d been looking down the whole time, “The match is about to start, what are you still looking at?”

Little Brian looked up and said, “Nothing, I just took a spin around Xingkong TV.”

David Parker said, “Aren’t all the streamers waiting to broadcast the match? What’s there to see?”

Little Brian clicked his tongue. “I wanted to hear what that blue-haired trash-talker would say about HT or PUD, but he didn’t even go live.”

“He doesn’t commentate matches that often anyway.” David Parker waved to a streamer friend sitting in the row behind as a greeting, and said casually, “Maybe he’s here at the venue today.”

“He wouldn’t dare! I’m not exaggerating, he’s offended every team that came to watch today.” Little Brian straightened up and looked around. “That little blue-haired guy, I’d recognize him anywhere. If he dares show up here, I’ll definitely settle the score with him…”

As soon as he finished, he met his brother’s gaze.

Brian Carter said, “Sit properly, it’s starting.”

Little Brian replied, “Oh,” and obediently sat back down.

The three commentators were in position, and the grand finals livestream officially began. The lights in the audience area of the arena had already been dimmed.

After introducing themselves, the three commentators began analyzing both teams.

During regular LPL event streams, the commentators are always very neutral, but when it comes to clashes between two regions, they tend to favor players from their own region.
