Chapter 16

The girl was very beautiful, and Brian Foster immediately felt his face grow hot.

He walked over and leaned on the bar: “Hey beautiful, want to come hang out?”

The girl nodded and chatted with him for quite a while before finally asking, “Where’s Chad Sullivan?”

Brian Foster, being rather dense, replied, “Changing clothes.”

When the girl came over, Jack Miller whistled and then whispered to Alan Bennett, “She’s probably here for Brother Chad.”

Alan Bennett glanced at her. “She looks alright, not as good as Grace Turner, but still okay.”

As soon as Chad Sullivan came out, he saw Brian Foster waving at him. He sat down, and a slender, fair hand across from him lit a cigarette and handed it over.

He lazily looked up and saw the expectant eyes of Anna Ward.

Jack Miller said, “Tsk, the beauty knows what’s up.”

Chad Sullivan put on his jacket but didn’t take the cigarette.

The girl looked a bit awkward, but quickly recovered. “Hi Chad Sullivan, I’m Anna Ward, from Class 1, Senior 3 at No. 7 High School.”

She was a year above Ethan Carter, technically her upperclassman.

Chad Sullivan leaned back on the sofa and looked up at her, a thin layer of sweat on his silver hair after exercising. “From No. 7?”

Anna Ward hadn’t expected him to respond and quickly nodded.

“Is Class 1 at your school for the top students?”

“Yes.”

Suddenly, Chad Sullivan stood up and moved closer to her. He was tall and imposing, and up close, he had a wild kind of handsomeness that made Anna Ward blush.

“Class 1 at No. 7—what do you think of a vocational school student like me?”

Anna Ward was stunned for a moment, then finally said, “It’s just different schools, we’re all equal.”

Chad Sullivan suddenly laughed. “Get lost.” Liar.

He sat back down. Anna Ward bit her lip, not knowing how she’d offended him, and had no choice but to leave. Brian Foster watched her back and quietly said to Alan Bennett and the others, “I think Anna Ward is really pretty and has a lot of presence.” vx public account: Angel推文

Chad Sullivan’s gaze drifted through the competitive jungle, not really landing anywhere.

Alan Bennett didn’t say anything, but vaguely remembered that Ethan Carter was also in Class 1. Second year, Class 1.

A bold guess suddenly formed in his mind.

Ethan Carter hadn’t run into Chad Sullivan for several days, and she breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that many things were different from her previous life. In her last life, when the incident with Lily Brooks pretending to be her was exposed, she was overwhelmed.

By the time the rumors had mostly died down, her eyes had healed, and the doctor said she didn’t need to wear sunglasses to school anymore.

The day her eyes got better, something happened to Lily Brooks—someone splashed paint all over her in the girls’ bathroom.

Ethan Carter didn’t even have time to go to her own school; she went to the neighboring vocational school to pick up her sister.

She wrapped Lily Brooks in her jacket and shielded her as they walked out, just in time to run into Chad Sullivan.

The weather was pleasant then, and the girl’s face was pure and beautiful, her skin snow-white.

He only caught a glimpse of her profile, but his gaze lingered for a moment.

As she passed by him, Chad Sullivan suddenly smiled. “Hey, were you the one playing the piano that day?”

She looked up and met his dark eyes.

Ethan Carter knew her sister liked him and thought he was mocking them. So she softly said, “Excuse me, could you move aside?”

After a while, he smiled and said, “Sure.”

That was actually their first meeting.

Ethan Carter had always thought he was easy to talk to, until she later saw his stubbornness and realized how wrong her impression had been.

But in this life, they met too early, and her eyes hadn’t healed yet.

Ethan Carter felt that Chad Sullivan probably disliked her, which actually made her feel relieved.

These days, she’d been preparing for the math olympiad.

Emma Clark saw her practicing problems as soon as class ended and couldn’t help but ask, “Aren’t you tired, Little Ethan?”

Ethan Carter shook her head. Eight thousand yuan—no, not tired.

In the back row, Amy Cooper was eating cookies. Hearing this, she shared one with Emma Clark, then said, “Even though Ethan Carter is really good, I heard Anna Ward is competing too. She wins every year.”

Emma Clark knew about Anna Ward. “The senior, right?”

“Yeah, and she’s pretty too.” Amy Cooper perked up. “I heard from my cousin that she and Chad Sullivan are together now.”

The classroom was noisy, and Emma Clark widened her eyes. “No way, really?”

“It’s true. Someone saw them walking together a couple of days ago.”

“Damn, that’s exciting. Didn’t Chad Sullivan just break up with Grace Turner?” Now everyone crowded around to listen to the gossip.

Emma Clark turned to look at Ethan Carter.

Ethan Carter drew a thin line on white paper with her ruler, her long lashes lowered, saying nothing.

Emma Clark muttered, “Little Ethan, how come you’re not interested in any of this?”

Ethan Carter curved her lips. “Mm.”

The math olympiad was in November, right on Thanksgiving.

The school had already held a preliminary round, and Ethan Carter advanced smoothly. The second round was in the city center, and since Anna Ward had recently become a hot topic, everyone was paying unprecedented attention to this math competition.

Some even said Anna Ward was much better than Grace Turner.

She was a top student and good-looking too. The national math olympiad for primary and secondary students was pretty tough, but Anna Ward managed to win first place every year, earning a lot of admiration.

And because someone cheated last year, this year the organizers said the competition would be public, held outdoors for the first time, with everyone answering questions on drawing boards.

This made everyone feel it was quite novel, and they all wished they could join in the excitement.
