Chapter 15

After cleaning up the dishes, William Carter returned to his room to continue his work. The rhythmic clanging of the forging hammer striking the iron block echoed through the air. Although he didn’t know when he would be able to forge the piece of pig iron down to the fist-sized chunk that Henry Carter required, this method of forging was quite beneficial for improving his use of Xuantian Skill, and it was also good physical training. William Carter had already started trying to use as little Xuantian internal energy as possible to swing the hammer, so that he could maintain each series of strikes for a longer period of time.

As the afternoon’s hammering reached over three hundred strikes, and he felt that the pig iron had been further purified of some impurities, the door curtain was lifted and Henry Carter walked in. It seemed that he hadn’t been forging farm tools this afternoon—at least, William Carter hadn’t heard the familiar sounds of hammering.

“Dad.” William Carter looked at his father, unconsciously stopping the hammer in his hand.

Henry Carter gestured for him to continue, then walked to the side and stood there silently, just watching him.

Only then did William Carter resume swinging the hammer. By now, his clothes were already soaked with sweat. With his current internal strength, he was still not able to adapt to the heat, not to mention that this was definitely heavy physical labor.

Clang, clang, clang, clang, clang... The sound of hammering continued. William Carter’s small body seemed disproportionate to the hammer in his hand, but each swing was full of power.

Henry Carter thought to himself, Born with divine strength and innate full soul power—no wonder he can wield the hammer at such a young age. Maybe Old Jack was right; I shouldn’t let my own decadence affect this child’s development. From now on, let him walk his own path.

Watching William Carter sweat profusely, Henry Carter finally made up his mind.

“Stop for a moment,” Henry Carter said.

William Carter put down the hammer, slightly out of breath, quietly circulating his Xuantian Skill to recover his strength.

Henry Carter walked up to William Carter, took the hammer from his hand, and glanced at the glowing red iron block on the furnace. “If you keep hammering like this, even after a year you won’t be able to forge it down to the size of a fist.”

William Carter looked up at his tall father. “Then what should I do?”

Henry Carter replied coldly, “Tell me, when you swing the forging hammer to strike it, which part of your body exerts force first?”

William Carter thought for a moment and said, “It should be the waist. The waist drives the back, then the back drives the arms to swing the hammer.”

Henry Carter neither confirmed nor denied William Carter’s answer, but continued to ask, “Besides the brain, what is the most important part of the human body?”

“The heart,” William Carter answered without hesitation. The heart and the brain are both instantly fatal points, but the brain is protected by the skull, while the heart is only shielded by skin and muscle. As a disciple of the Tang Sect, he was very familiar with human anatomy. Piercing the enemy’s heart with a hidden weapon was the most effective and straightforward way to kill.

Henry Carter paused for a moment before saying, “Then tell me, how many hearts does a person have?”

“Huh?” William Carter looked at him in surprise, a bit confused. Isn’t it obvious how many hearts a person has?

“Answer me,” Henry Carter said coldly, his imposing stature and aura making it hard for William Carter to breathe.

“One.”

Henry Carter shook his head and said, “No, you’re wrong. Remember, a person has three hearts, not just one.”

“Three?” William Carter stared at Henry Carter in shock, not understanding what he meant.

Henry Carter flipped the forging hammer in his hand and tapped William Carter’s two calves with the handle. “Here. The muscles in a person’s two calves are the second and third hearts. If someone wants to unleash all their strength, it must be the result of all three hearts working together. So, the force doesn’t start from the waist. The three hearts are the starting point.”

“When the heart in your chest beats rapidly, start exerting force from your calves. The power travels up to your thighs, through your waist, back, and arms, and is finally released. That is a full-powered strike. The heart exerts the force, the waist is the axis. Watch.”

Chapter 3: Twin Martial Souls (Part Four)

Henry Carter slightly lifted the forging hammer in his hand, making William Carter take a few steps back. At the same time, he turned the hammer back, let out a low shout, half-turned his body, his feet firmly planted on the ground, and the muscles of his calves, exposed through the torn pant legs, instantly tensed. His whole body was like a tiger ready to pounce. His legs exerted force, his waist rotated, and the forging hammer was brought back almost invisibly. With a loud clang, it landed heavily on the glowing red pig iron.

William Carter could clearly feel that this was purely a process of exerting physical strength. Henry Carter had no internal energy, nor any release of martial soul power—this was entirely the strength of the flesh. Yet the previously glowing iron block was smashed in by nearly a third, its deformation extremely obvious.

“Using your calves to exert force, connecting the strength of your whole body into one, that is full power.” Henry Carter handed the hammer back to William Carter. “You try it.”
