Chapter 2

With a thunderous explosion, as all the elders simultaneously stepped back to guard against any mishap, what they saw was the completely naked William Carter.

William Carter smiled, his smile radiant. “Naked I came, naked I shall leave. The Buddha Fury Tang Lotus is the last gift William Carter leaves to our sect. Now, apart from myself, I have taken nothing from Carter Clan. The secret manuals are all under the first brick inside the door of my room. William Carter now returns everything to Carter Clan.”

“Hahahahahahaha…” William Carter laughed wildly up at the sky, suddenly stepping backward. At this moment, all the elders of Carter Clan suddenly realized that not a single one of them had managed to stop him. His body, shrouded in white light, shot like lightning toward the Ghostly Cliff ahead. His tall, proud figure soared into the air, striding toward the mist among the mountains.

“Wait.” Mr. Carter finally reacted, but by now, anything he said was already too late.

The mist was thick, carrying waves of dampness, taking away the sunlight, and also taking away William Carter, who had devoted his entire life to Carter Clan and hidden weapons.

Time seemed to stand still. Mr. Carter trembled as he held the three Tang Lotuses before him, his eyes moist. “William Carter, oh William Carter, why did you have to do this? The surprises you brought us are simply too many…”

“Big brother.” Second Elder stepped forward. “Why grieve for this traitor?”

Mr. Carter’s gaze instantly turned cold, a chill radiating from his whole body as he glared at Second Elder. “Who are you calling a traitor? Have you ever seen a traitor who, after obtaining our sect’s highest secret manual, does not flee? Have you seen a traitor who proves his resolve with death? Have you seen someone who possesses a peerless hidden weapon capable of destroying any master of Carter Clan, yet gives it as his final gift to Carter Clan? William Carter is not a traitor. He is, in two hundred years, the most outstanding genius our sect has ever had.”

Second Elder was stunned. “But, he secretly learned our sect’s…”

Mr. Carter abruptly interrupted, “If you can also create the Buddha Fury Tang Lotus, I won’t care what you steal. You are wrong, and so am I. Just a moment ago, we watched with open eyes as another chance for Carter Clan’s glory slipped away before us.”

The elders gathered around, their expressions complex—confusion, sorrow, sighs, but above all, regret.

“You need say no more. Pass on my order: command all disciples of our sect to set out in full force, search for William Carter below Ghostly Cliff—alive, we must see the man; dead, we must see the corpse. At the same time, from this moment on, William Carter is promoted to an inner disciple of our sect. If he is still alive, he will be my sole successor as sect master.”

“Yes, Sect Master.” All the elders bowed in unison.

If William Carter were still atop this cliff and could hear Mr. Carter’s words, even in death, he would surely feel comforted—his efforts had not been in vain. But, all of this had come just a little too late.

Ghostly Cliff, where even a stone thrown down would take nineteen seconds to hit the bottom, as if it surpassed the eighteen levels of hell—how could it possibly allow a living person to return from the mist? William Carter was gone. He had left this world forever, but another chapter of his fate had just begun.

Chapter One: Douluo Continent, Another World William Carter (Part One)

Douluo Continent, southwest of the Heaven Dou Empire, Fasno Province.

Holy Soul Village—if you only heard the name, it would certainly be quite a surprising one. But in reality, it was just a small village of a little over three hundred households south of Notting City in Fasno Province. The reason for its name, Holy Soul, was because, according to legend, a Soul Saint-level soul master once emerged from here a hundred years ago. This is the eternal pride of Holy Soul Village.

Outside Holy Soul Village stretched vast farmlands. The grain and vegetables produced here were all supplied to Notting City. Although Notting City was not considered a big city in Fasno Province, it was close to the border with another empire, and naturally became one of the starting points for trade between the two empires. Because of this, Notting City prospered, and as a result, the commoners in the surrounding villages enjoyed a much better life than those elsewhere.

At the break of dawn, a faint white light appeared in the eastern sky. On a small hill just over a hundred meters high next to Holy Soul Village, a small, thin figure had already appeared.

It was a child of only five or six years old. Clearly, he often basked in the warmth of the sun, for his skin was a healthy wheat color. His short black hair looked neat, and though his clothes were plain, they were clean.

For a child his age, climbing a hill over a hundred meters high would not be easy. Yet, strangely, when he reached the summit, he was neither flushed nor out of breath, looking completely at ease.

The boy sat down at the top of the hill, his eyes fixed intently on the gradually brightening white light in the east. He slowly inhaled through his nose and exhaled gently through his mouth. His breathing was long and soft, forming a wonderful cycle.

Just then, his eyes suddenly widened. In that gradually brightening white light on the horizon, it seemed as if a faint trace of purple flashed by. Without extraordinary eyesight and enough focus, it would have been impossible to notice its existence.
