Chapter 528

“Don’t you think the displays in the ancestral hall were a bit strange?”

The tea table was made from the roots of a Bai Ge tree spirit; the burning incense candles were crafted from the oil of a human-snake; and beneath their feet lay the fur of a Black Wind Bear.

It was unbelievable—after encountering so many demons and spirits, this Da Wang Village was still so peaceful and serene!

The villagers even seemed to have practiced some sort of dubious martial arts!

“If we had made a move just now, we probably wouldn’t have made it out of the ancestral hall alive…”

The woman from the underground city looked pale with fear and asked, “But this Da Wang Village is so prosperous. If we can’t bring it under control, how will we report back?”

“We can’t handle Da Wang Village, but can’t the Celestial Clan?”

“I noticed something odd about the martial arts those villagers practice; it has a demonic aura. They might have already colluded with the demons. This is serious; we must let the upper clan of Tian Cheng decide!”

The middle-aged man mounted his horse.

Three swift steeds galloped out of the village, and a figure slipped down from a tree.

Dong Er Niu, the little rascal who used to follow Li Mo around, had grown up now and was exceptionally talented.

He had just been hiding in the tree, unnoticed even by the martial artists from the underground city.

He immediately headed for the ancestral hall.

Meanwhile, the trio had crossed a higher and more majestic city wall and were now meeting with the Celestial Clan stationed on their side.

The Celestial figure was a wild woman with sun-kissed skin and hair that danced in the wind, appearing to be in her early thirties.

It was said that she was extraordinary within the Celestial Clan, with an innate auspicious light that was purple, capable of summoning boundless storms with a mere gesture.

“There are people in the human city colluding with demons?”

Feng Zhi frowned, her tone unfriendly. “Such trivial matters, you can handle them yourselves. Is it necessary to disturb me?”

In her eyes, there was little difference between the people of the human city and those of the underground city.

“The villagers of Da Wang seem to have gained power from the demons.”

The three trembled, only the middle-aged man managed to speak.

As soon as he finished speaking, the woman across from them suddenly stood up, raised her hand lightly, and a fierce wind swept the middle-aged man right in front of her.

“Is what you just said true?”

“Absolutely true!”

Feng Zhi nodded and waved her sleeve.

This was a serious matter; she had to confirm it personally.

The swirling wind carried her and the three men straight up into the sky, howling as they soared.

In just a quarter of an hour, she followed the guidance and crossed a long distance, arriving outside Da Wang Village.

What greeted her was a patchwork of neatly arranged farmland and lush mountains and waters.

People were working in the fields, and hunters were stalking in the mountains.

The farmers weren’t bent over; instead, they crouched low like giant mantises, wielding sickles like blades, effortlessly cutting down swathes of weeds.

One man, frustrated with the slow plowing of his ox, shoved the old yellow ox aside to let it rest and began plowing the field himself.

The scene in the fields was already bizarre enough.

The hunting scene in the mountains was even more absurd.

A hunter pointed at a wild boar across from him, disdain written all over his face, and beckoned with his finger, “Hey, pig! Come here!”

“Snort?!”

When had a wild boar ever been treated like this? Furious, it charged at the hunter, trying to gore him.

But the hunter simply let out a “Hey!” and braced himself, colliding fiercely with the boar.

Bang—

It was the boar that went flying, knocked out during the impact.

“I told you something was off about Da Wang Village!” The middle-aged man from the underground city pointed and spoke with newfound confidence.

Who in their right mind would farm and hunt like this?

“Praying Mantis, Rampant Ox, Iron-Horned Rhino…”

Feng Zhi could indeed see the shadows of those demons in them.

While their auras were not identical, they were clearly imitating!

Moreover…

Not only was there no demonic aura, but quite the opposite.

Were there fellow clansmen hiding in the village?

A tempest swirled around her as she felt the energy emanating from the village, her eyes shimmering with a faint azure hue as she moved toward the source of the aura.

The Celestial Clan was a loose group, and it was normal for some to wander outside. However, given the vastness of the human city, such encounters were rare.

At that moment, she spotted a small farmhouse.

Through the door, she saw a serene figure.

With braided hair and dressed in coarse cloth, her face was as pale as frost, and her lips were rosy, like a vision of beauty that had suddenly stepped into this world.

The Celestial Clan was known for their ethereal beauty, but compared to her, they seemed to pale in comparison.

Ying Bing was holding freshly washed clothes, frowning as she looked up at the sky.

“Suddenly, such a strong wind.”

Li Mo came over to help her with the clothes.

“This is the root of all evil! The village chief of this place!” The middle-aged man from the underground city pointed at him.

Li Mo: “?”

The young village chief thought to himself that “evil” didn’t start with “Li.”

P.S.: The plot in Tian Ren City won’t be overly long, but the important parts still need to be written, especially given the significant time span. Even if I try to condense it, it won’t be too short.

Well, this is a side story; if it’s too long, it would just be a new book (where did everyone go? Is this still about the reborn female emperor?).

As for the other aspects of the plot, I won’t write anything inappropriate or delve too deeply into it. It will primarily be based on the foundational worldview of this book—absolutely positive energy!

Chapter 599: The World She Wants to Protect

Feng Zhi was a powerful member of the Celestial Clan.

Perhaps it was her arrival that caused the dark hues in the sky to deepen, with the sounds of rustling leaves echoing all around.

Yet, the very person who triggered this change in the heavens was momentarily frozen in place.

Looking at Ying Bing, unchanged and dressed in coarse clothing, her thoughts drifted back to that day when radiant light filled the sky, and all manner of wonders bloomed like flowers, as if the heavens and earth rejoiced at someone’s arrival.

It couldn’t be mistaken; it was her.

There would never be another existence in this world that could evoke such a breathtaking feeling with just a glance.

“Leave us.”

“...Yes.”

The trio from the underground city was taken aback.

It was the first time they had seen a member of the upper clan of Tian Cheng act so out of character, and they all lowered their heads, silent as mice.

“Someone outside was just mentioning me.”

Li Mo, fully aware, didn’t pay much attention and shook off the damp clothes.

“It was fine just a moment ago; why did the wind suddenly pick up?”

Ying Bing gazed outside, her expression cool as she said, “Today is the last sunny day before winter; I need to dry the clothes.”

Strangely enough, as soon as she finished speaking, the increasingly fierce wind abruptly ceased, and the sunlight returned, as if the earlier gloom had been nothing but an illusion.

“Looks like Sister Fairy’s words carry weight; even the heavens must listen.”

“Guests are coming over.”

“Then let’s light the stove; we made dumplings yesterday, and there are marinated pig ears…”

“Absolutely no drinking.” Ying Bing, seeing through his little scheme, pinched his waist.

Li Mo pouted, igniting the fire in the stove, moving the bright red quilt to the table, and then a wild, strong woman with a captivating aura was led into the house.

She appeared somewhat awkward and cautious in front of Ying Bing.

“Please, have a seat.”

“Uh-huh.”

“May I ask your name?”

Li Mo actually knew who she was and had prepared a response, but there had to be a starting point.

“I…”

But everything before her felt utterly absurd to Feng Zhi.

The ordinary small house in the village, the firewood stove, the brick bed, the table covered with bright red quilts, and the corner piled with New Year’s goods.

The man poking at the fire with a stick, the celestial-like woman calmly existing amidst this mundane life, was so beautifully surreal it felt like a dream.

Yet she was undeniably a creation of the heavens and earth, unprecedented in the history of the Celestial Clan.

Perhaps the chasm between the Celestial Clan and the people of the underground city was akin to the chasm between her and the Celestial Clan.

She could sense the energy flowing from Ying Bing, a power so profound that even she felt her knees weaken.

But Ying Bing simply sat quietly beside the man, gently peeling a sunflower seed and offering it to him.

“I’m her cousin,” Feng Zhi said timidly.

The Celestial Clan didn’t really care about seniority, only strength, so even though she was older, Feng Zhi was technically taking advantage by calling her “sister.”

Moreover, Ying Bing seemed casual, but her attention was clearly focused on her.

“What a rare guest! Have you finished your summer homework?” Li Mo asked casually.

“...Huh?”

“Ah, sorry, it’s not easy to come all this way. Stay for dumplings later, and take some local specialties back with you.”
