When he was reporting, Nathaniel Grant lowered his eyes, quickly scanning through the class schedule.
Samuel Ford finished speaking, hesitated for a moment, and then took out a sheet of red paper carefully gilded with gold foil.
"Additionally, Chairman Grant, this is a divination sent from the main residence. They said a master was asked to pick an auspicious date and time, and you are to choose one from these for the engagement..."
Nathaniel Grant acted as if he hadn't seen it, not even glancing at the red paper, and continued looking at the class schedule in his hand.
Samuel Ford, sensing the mood, didn't mention it again. He quickly put the red paper away and stood by, waiting for Nathaniel Grant's instructions.
"Set it for Sunday."
Nathaniel Grant quickly decided on the date.
"Apply in advance for a visitor parking permit at Yanda. On Sunday morning, go pick him up downstairs at the dormitory."
"Yes, sir."
Samuel Ford replied respectfully.
He was about to take the class schedule from Nathaniel Grant's hand, but unexpectedly realized that the other party had no intention of returning it.
The thin paper filled with Ethan Carter's information was carefully folded, and Nathaniel Grant directly put the class schedule into his breast pocket.
After putting away the schedule, he quickly walked out of the meeting room and left together with his waiting assistant.

Chapter Seven 007
A few days later, Ethan Carter received notice that the engagement was set for a Sunday in November.
This was a huge relief for him; Sunday was the day with the lightest academic load for Ethan Carter, so the date was especially friendly for him.
The date information was sent by his stepmother. Besides that, she also told him quite a bit about the story behind the chosen date.
Because this day was not an auspicious date picked by the Lu family, after Nathaniel Grant set Sunday, the Lu family argued with Nathaniel Grant for quite a while, but in the end, they were silenced by Nathaniel Grant's "no time" and were forced to compromise.
The poor relationship between the Lu family and Nathaniel Grant wasn't a recent development; otherwise, Nathaniel Grant wouldn't have come to the mainland to develop on his own. But after all, he was still a member of the Lu family, and they still maintained control over him.
It was said that for this engagement, the Lu family had even set all the procedures in advance. Although they wouldn't send anyone all the way to the mainland to attend an engagement ceremony, every step had been carefully divined, all meant to bring prosperity to the family.
But the only thing they hadn't foreseen was that Nathaniel Grant would suddenly get promoted.
After Nathaniel Grant was promoted to chairman of Taiping, the power dynamics between him and the Lu family subtly shifted. He had never really followed the Lu family's orders, and after his promotion, it became even harder for them to interfere with his actions.
Afraid that Nathaniel Grant would get so annoyed that he would simply call off the marriage, the Lu family had no choice but to back down.
On the phone, Ivy Harris explained all the hints, power struggles, and conflicts, repeatedly warning Ethan Carter to be careful in everything he did, since neither the Lu family nor Nathaniel Grant were people they could afford to offend.
Ethan Carter was busy preparing for midterms, absentmindedly responding with a few "mm-hm"s. After listening, he barely remembered a word, only feeling that the affairs of wealthy families were all so complicated.
But in a way, that was good. People like Young Master Grant who came from such families would definitely be decisive when cutting ties. When the agreement ended and they divorced, Ethan Carter could just pack up and leave.
While listening to his stepmother's lecture, Ethan Carter even wondered if the scenario of "Young Master Grant getting angry and calling off the wedding" could come true, but for now, it was just a pleasant hope.
Ethan Carter didn't dwell on these matters for long; he focused on preparing for the midterm exams.
A few days later, it was time for the big midterm. Eleven specialized courses, spread over three days.
After three days of exams, the students all felt as if they'd been skinned alive. Leaving the exam room, even the cold air outside felt much sweeter.
The group from 404 had agreed to meet at the building entrance and return to the dorm together. The first to come out, Henry Sullivan, stretched his arms, loosening up his stiff body, and let out a long sigh.
"Finally made it out alive."
Next to him, Blake Cooper was rummaging through his pockets for a tissue to wipe his glasses.
"It's freezing out here, but I still sweated through the whole exam."
Ethan Carter was about to help him look for a tissue when he suddenly felt a weight on his back.
"Who am I, where am I..."
A feeble voice came from behind. Liam Bennett was slumped over his shoulder, looking completely drained.
"Am I still alive?"
Beside them, Henry Sullivan chimed in, "You're already a loot box, and you still have to deliver supplies to the enemy."
Liam Bennett flailed, "No way! I'll eat the cake myself!"
Ethan Carter handed the tissue to Blake Cooper, smiling as he said, "Then the four-person dinner tonight will be just the three of us."
Liam Bennett wailed in a drawn-out voice, "No way—!"
They had agreed to go out for a big meal after the exams. Ethan Carter carried the big freeloader on his back as the four of them chatted and walked toward the dorm.
Henry Sullivan asked, "Where are we eating tonight?"
None of them had a particular place in mind, so Blake Cooper said, "Let me check the reviews."
