Chapter 4

Ryan Carter pressed the flush button under his husband's ferocious gaze, sending those billions of “Old Bolton family heirs” swirling away, leaving only a pool of deep blue clean water spinning in the white porcelain bowl—lonely and desolate.

Ethan Bolton looked at that pool of deep blue water and gritted his teeth, saying, “Fine, very well. I have all the time in the world to waste with you. Until you’re pregnant with my child, I won’t pay a single cent of your father’s debt.”

“Oh, I’m just so scared.” Ryan Carter replied flatly while showering, picking up the showerhead and spraying the bare-bottomed husband who was staring at the toilet, quickly washing this guy clean so they could both get to sleep.

Exhausted from all the fuss, dinner was automatically skipped.

The little wifey fell asleep as soon as he touched the bed, which made the CEO quite unhappy. Ethan Bolton stared at that fair back exposed outside the quilt, frowning slightly. The room was well air-conditioned, and the ivory skin was covered with a bluish shadow. Was he doing this on purpose to make him feel tender? This damn little seducer.

With a huff, he pulled up the quilt to cover him and domineeringly pulled him into his arms.

The next morning, Ethan Bolton got up early, removed his bandage, shaved clean, and curled his lips into a smile—the man in the mirror was devastatingly handsome.

He picked out a set of clothes and tossed them to his still-sleeping wife: “You’re coming to the company with me today.”

“Mm, your company?” Ryan Carter rubbed his eyes and sat up, looking at the suit tossed on the bed—a silver-gray jacket paired with a wine-red shirt, outrageously flashy. “Why did you take out my formal wear?”

“You’re wearing this today.” The CEO lifted his chin slightly, full of arrogance. After living together for seven years, Ryan Carter could clearly read the look in his eyes: “You poor thing, you’ve never seen such fancy clothes, have you?”

“……” Ryan Carter silently put the formal wear back, took out a regular suit for work, changed into it, and asked Yu Yuan to send over today’s work schedule. After confirming there was nothing major, he said, “If there’s anything urgent, find me at Shifei Technology.”

The private doctor was scheduled for the afternoon. He didn’t feel comfortable letting this big-shot Bolton loose at the company all morning. Even if the man didn’t say so, he was planning to go along anyway.

Sitting at the breakfast table, the consequences of skipping dinner finally showed. Looking at the greasy pancakes and fried eggs, Ryan Carter only felt his stomach cramp, and after a few sips of plain porridge, he couldn’t eat anymore.

Ethan Bolton saw his state, raised an eyebrow and chuckled, “It’s just a trip to the company. Look how nervous you are. With this lack of composure, how can you be my man?”

Hearing this, Ryan Carter not only felt his stomach cramp, but his temple twitched as well: “Shut up!”

After breakfast, the two of them went together to Ethan Bolton’s company—Shifei Technology.

This was a company that made AI brain games and applications. In the past decade, AI brains had become popular worldwide, completely replacing smartphones and permeating every aspect of life. Riding this wave, Ethan Bolton’s Shifei had grown explosively, becoming a tech giant in the country.

The towering building, with its futuristic interior design, left every first-time visitor to Shifei in awe.

Ethan Bolton took his little wifey’s hand and, under the watchful eyes of all the employees, strode proudly into the CEO’s private elevator.

“They must be wondering which lover I’m bringing today,” the CEO said smugly. As the elevator doors closed, he clearly heard the staff gasp.

“Hmm?” Ryan Carter asked casually, “You have other lovers?”

“What, are you jealous?” The CEO flirtatiously hooked his wife’s chin.

Ryan Carter’s gaze suddenly turned sharp. Just you wait, Bolton.

The gasps outside the elevator were not the CEO’s imagination. The tech elites standing at the elevator entrance looked at each other in fear.

“Oh my god, why is Mr. Carter here?”

“Probably here to check up on us.”

In the company’s employee group chat, a level-one alert was quickly sounded.

【@everyone Mr. Carter is at the company, stay sharp!】

【Dear heavens, please let me not make any mistakes today, Mr. Carter is too strict QAQ】

Chapter 3: The CEO’s Million-Dollar Bride (3)┃So, he called Edward Sullivan.

The entire Shifei building was filled with all kinds of high-tech facilities. For example, this elevator required an employee card to use, and each employee could only access certain floors. To go to floors outside your clearance, you had to apply for permission.

The CEO’s private elevator was activated by the CEO’s fingerprint and could reach any floor in the building.

Ethan Bolton entered the elevator and, as a matter of course, pressed the button for the top floor. As a domineering CEO, he should have an office with 360-degree floor-to-ceiling windows, standing at the city’s highest point every day, overlooking the masses.

“You don’t remember which floor?” Ryan Carter gave him a strange look and pressed the button for the floor in the middle of the building.

As it turned out, he didn’t have a panoramic office on the top floor. Instead, following the tradition of the 1990s, the executives’ offices were arranged on the middle floors for easier communication—and easier escape.

Not stylish at all!
