What?!
Brian Foster ignored the concerned greetings from the others, got up, and walked over to the makeup mirror. Reflected in the glass was an exquisitely beautiful face, with equally dramatic makeup—he looked even prettier than a girl.
Brian Foster couldn’t help but reach out to touch his current face, and asked the voice in his mind, “Why did I end up inside my own novel?”
The system AI replied, “All the worlds in this system come from the novels created by you, Mr. Foster. The characters set by the system for you are also the protagonists from your novels.”
Brian Foster studied his reflection carefully, then glanced at the people around him.
He really had entered his own novel.
This novel was an entertainment industry story he started serializing six years ago, titled “The Ultimate Showdown of Beauty and Acting.” In truth, his motives for writing it weren’t entirely pure—entertainment industry stories were all the rage back then, so he wrote one to cater to the market.
His current identity was one of the male leads in the novel, a super popular idol in a super popular boy group. Brian Foster understood the era’s obsession with male beauty, so he created Ethan Carter, a perfect pretty face, in a rather cliché way. Not to mention anything else, his looks alone could be described as breathtaking, but unfortunately, his acting skills were lacking. Riding on his popularity, he starred in one flop after another.
The other male lead was the complete opposite of Ethan Carter: the youngest Best Actor in history, a natural-born actor, Adam Bennett. The two met while working together on a film with a same-sex theme. Adam Bennett deeply disliked Ethan Carter, who relied solely on his looks, and the two didn’t get along at all. But after the movie was released and became a box office hit, their “national CP” pairing skyrocketed in popularity, landing them on variety shows and trending topics everywhere.
However...
Brian Foster remembered that this novel had a BE (bad ending).
There was nothing he could do—by the later chapters, Brian Foster had lost all passion for the story and just wanted to finish it quickly to start something new, so he wrote Ethan Carter’s death: after enduring long-term cyberbullying and malicious slander, he chose to end his own life.
Thinking back now, it was a bit irresponsible.
After recalling the entire plot, Brian Foster started to feel a strange sense of confidence.
“0901, I have a question.” Calling the system “system” felt a bit odd, so Brian Foster simply used the number the AI had mentioned earlier. “I’m the author—every plot point is something I made up. What’s the point of playing a game when you have all the answers?”
0901 explained, “Mr. Foster, first, this system is derived from your original novel, but it’s not exactly the same. Second, you are no longer the omniscient author, but a protagonist participating in the story. Every choice you make will cause unpredictable changes to the plot.”
Brian Foster felt a headache coming on. He had clearly transmigrated into his own novel, finally getting to be the winner with the script in hand, but now the original script might not even count, and every step he took could lead to a completely different outcome.
The butterfly effect, huh...
“Mr. Foster, now issuing your main quest.”
A light screen appeared before Brian Foster’s eyes, visible only to him, displaying a line of large blue text: Rewrite Ethan Carter’s suicide ending.
Brian Foster stared at the words and asked, “What happens if I fail the mission?”
“In any world, if you fail the mission, you will not be able to revive in real life.”
Compared to the quick transmigration novels he’d read by his peers, what he was experiencing now felt more like a death game. Brian Foster had no way out.
To be honest, Brian Foster had never been a fan of celebrities and didn’t care much for the popular idols online.
But if he became a traffic star with a terrible public image, constantly suffering from cyberbullying, how was he supposed to turn things around?
The face in the mirror was truly stunning. Although he looked pretty good in real life, compared to this character’s setting, he was nothing special.
“By the way, do I need to imitate the character settings from each world?” This was something Brian Foster was concerned about—it would determine whether he’d have to rely on his own poor acting skills.
0901: “If people in the system’s world start to suspect your identity, the mission will be in jeopardy, and there’s a high chance of failure.”
So basically, he couldn’t go too OOC.
“Ethan, are you okay?” The gentlest one among them stepped forward and placed a hand on his shoulder.
Brian Foster recalled the character settings and replied with a smile, “I’m fine, Eric Grant.” Seeing the other person smile back, Brian Foster secretly breathed a sigh of relief—he’d guessed right.
The short guy who’d shouted first when he woke up should be the main vocalist, Luke Harris. When writing, he’d thought that boy group main vocalists always seemed short, so he set it that way. The muscular one next to him should be the rap member, Scott Turner.
His gaze drifted to the skinny, slightly roguish one in the corner. Brian Foster thought for a moment—he should be the main dancer, Chad Sullivan, who also liked Ethan Carter in the original story.
After roughly sorting out the original characters, Brian Foster gave everyone a weak smile. “Sorry for worrying you all.”
Luke Harris: “You suddenly collapsed when you got off stage—you really scared me.”
