Chapter 4

He spoke in a very pleasant, soft voice, just like every time he used to whisper sweet words to him before, so much so that Brian Young didn’t even understand at first: “…My brother treats me well, did he spend your money?”

Chapter 2: The Genius Cannon Fodder’s Counterattack (Part 2)

Little Ford saw in front of him a data panel visible only to himself. On the panel were the host’s real-time body temperature, heart rate, blood pressure, as well as the current outside temperature, but the most eye-catching data bars were divided into red and blue.

The blue bar was the remorse value, the red bar was the favorability value, both maxing out at 100.

The blue value stayed constant at “9”, while the red value was continuously dropping because of Little Ford’s “Did he spend your money?” remark.

Little Ford sighed, “Why do people never like to hear the truth?”

The system wanted to complain a bit, but held back.

Brian Young said disappointedly, “Xiao Cheng, why do you talk like that?”

Little Ford didn’t get upset, and replied gently, “Old Yang, don’t misunderstand. What I mean is, big brother is thinking of us too. Having a car would make our lives much more convenient. I might not need it, but you could drive it to work, wouldn’t that look good in front of your colleagues?”

His attitude was very good, as if that previous, rather explosive remark was just a simple statement of fact.

Seeing the favorability value rise by two points, the system thought, a slap and then a sweet date. Not a bad tactic.

Brian Young let out a breath.

This child had been spoiled since young, and didn’t know how to watch his words. He probably didn’t even realize how hurtful that last comment was.

Thinking of this, Brian Young summoned a father’s patience and coaxed him, “Xiao Cheng, a car is a consumable. Supporting a car, how much do you have to spend on gas every month, how much does it cost to buy a parking spot, have you thought about that? Can we really afford it right now?”

“I’ll earn money to support you!” Evan Clark put his hands behind his back, his smile so sincere and gentle it could melt anyone’s heart. “My demo is almost finished, I’ll have money soon.”

Brian Young said helplessly, “How many times have I told you, that’s not a proper job.”

“I just love music.”

“Liking something can’t put food on the table… Forget it, let’s not talk about this.” Brian Young said tolerantly, “No need to argue.”

“Alright, let’s drop it.” Evan Clark took a step forward, closing the distance between him and Brian Young, and said softly, “Actually, I was also thinking, this car could be used to pick up your parents. Your parents and Third Sister are coming to the city next week, right? When they arrive, you could drive them to Xiaoyan’s school, pick her up for a meal or something. Didn’t Xiaoyan ask you last time when you’d buy a car?”

These two things happened to hit Brian Young’s soft spot. He fell silent.

And as he said this, Evan Clark looked up at Brian Young.

Meeting his burning gaze, Brian Young’s heart suddenly skipped a beat.

It was winter. As the city lights began to glow, Evan Clark exhaled a breath. In the hazy white mist, his already radiant pale cheeks were haloed with a delicate, captivating glow. The fur trim of his white down jacket was ruffled by the night wind, brushing against his porcelain-like slender white neck, again and again, making Brian Young’s heart tighten and burn.

Meanwhile, the control panel in front of Little Ford was displaying a semi-transparent card, with the following data:

Name: Beauty Halo (Trial Version)

Duration: 10 minutes

Quantity: 1

Quality: Excellent

Type: Single-use item

Required Exchange Points: 0 (distributed for free)

Description: Golden fried rice with silver, bone broth simmered to perfection, crab legs cracked open, salted duck egg yolks glistening with red oil—all can’t compare to your gentle smile under the soft light.

…What a metaphor.

Little Ford asked curiously, “Are the people writing your copywriters all chefs?”

The system was silent for a moment: “…09 is one of the original AIs, it’s innate data, just happens to like studying recipes.”

Little Ford found this a bit odd.

Innate data?

Can data be acquired later?

Before he could ask further, the system cut in: “Mr. Chi, the task.”

Little Ford: “Oh, right.”

Seeing Little Ford refocus, the system felt a bit relieved.

He had just taken over Little Ford, and already found this new host to be unusually difficult.

After receiving and reading the worldline information, Little Ford pondered for a long time, and his first question was: “When we meet later, can I just run over the guy surnamed Yang with a car?”

System: “…”

Little Ford said, “Don’t be nervous, I’m just discussing.”

He paused for a moment, then added, “Evan Clark’s family is so rich, if there’s a traffic accident, they can definitely handle it, right?”

The system said, “…You really do want to run him over, don’t you.”

Little Ford said, “No, just discussing.”

The system said, “Mr. Chi, you’re dealing with a living, breathing person.”

Little Ford said seriously, “Oh. Accidents, you know, nobody wants them.”

The system tried to reason with him: “…Mr. Chi, the laws in this world are pretty much the same as in your original world. If you intentionally hurt someone, you’ll go to jail. Besides, if you run over the mission target, how do you plan to leave this world?”

To leave the mission world, the main reference data is the remorse value.
