Chapter 14

Victor Harris released the hot water button and finished his sentence: "It says you and Samuel Clark were both lying on the ground. Tell me honestly, did that kid Samuel Clark hit you?"

---

William Foster had already paced around Samuel Clark's dorm three times, hands clasped behind his back, extremely anxious. By the time "Samuel Clark" woke up, he had actually calmed down and composed himself: "Did you hit someone?"

"I've told you so many times, you must obey the rules and be friendly with your classmates. How could you..." William Foster struggled with this sentence, "How could you get physical? You even knocked someone to the ground, and both of you ended up hurt. What kind of grudge is this?"

Hit someone?

Hit who?

Brian Cooper opened his eyes only to be accused of "breaking the rules and knocking a classmate to the ground."

Brian Cooper had no idea what William Foster was talking about. He tried to recall the last thing he saw before being knocked out—it was Samuel Clark barreling toward him, his nose slamming hard into Brian Cooper's chest, and the impact sent them both tumbling down.

Thinking of this, Brian Cooper couldn't help but feel a dull ache in his nose for some reason.

A few seconds later, he realized the pain was actually real.

William Foster continued listing his offenses: "You sleep in class all the time, your grades are a mess, and now you even resort to violence against your classmates!"

Brian Cooper: "..."

William Foster didn't exactly dislike this troublemaker. Aside from when Samuel Clark got stubborn and acted like "don't bother me," he was usually all smiles and agreeable to anything. After all, he was a student in his own class, so even when angry, William Foster was a bit partial: "Even Director Harris was alarmed by this. Even if the principal came, he couldn't save you. You need to reflect on your actions."

Within just a few dozen seconds, Brian Cooper figured out his current situation. It was a dorm, but clearly not his own—he would never put comic posters on the dorm wall.

Nor would his desk be completely devoid of practice books.

Not to mention, the clothes he was wearing seemed to be Samuel Clark's.

Samuel Clark's flamboyant style was fully reflected in his clothes. He never wore the school uniform, and this white T-shirt he had on was impossible not to notice.

William Foster: "What is our Linjiang No. 6 High School's motto, what is it! It's civility and harmony!"

Brian Cooper interrupted him: "Where is this?"

As soon as Brian Cooper spoke, or more precisely, as soon as that clear, bold voice came out, he didn't even need William Foster's answer. All his questions instinctively pointed to the most fantastical and impossible answer.

"You don't even recognize your own dorm?" William Foster was stunned for a second, then became uncharacteristically angry: "Don't play dumb with me! If you make a mistake, you have to own up to it. A real man takes responsibility for his actions. Get up and go apologize to Brian Cooper."

---

On the other side, Samuel Clark was still struggling. His mind was full of the face he saw in the mirror, and he simply couldn't accept that jumping over a wall had landed him in someone else's body. " Victor Harris... Director Harris, what day is it today?"

Victor Harris said, "It's Wednesday."

"What year has human civilization reached?" Samuel Clark closed his eyes, and several sci-fi movies flashed through his mind, led by "Those Years Lost in the Space-Time Rift." "Is it 2019 this year?"

Victor Harris said worriedly, "...It's not just 2019. You're at Linjiang No. 6 High School right now. We just finished the placement test, remember? Did you hit your head?"

"…"

Samuel Clark tried to confirm whether he was dreaming.

Victor Harris watched as the usually calm and rational Brian Cooper suddenly started talking nonsense, and his hatred for the culprit deepened: "That Samuel Clark really can't do anything right, but he's always number one at causing trouble."

Whether or not space-time rifts existed, and whether or not he was dreaming, one thing was instinctive. When Brian Cooper followed William Foster into the dorm across the hall, Samuel Clark had already been talking with Victor Harris for seven or eight minutes.

"My current situation has nothing to do with him, Director Harris, you've misunderstood him. I have to clear Samuel Clark's name. He may seem rebellious, but he actually has a lot of good qualities."

"Good looks go without saying."

"Of course, besides that, he has many admirable traits. For example, he's actually very kind at heart, always friendly to classmates, and willing to help others," Samuel Clark said, sounding quite convincing. "Ah, and one more thing—he's unique, very individualistic, and I really admire him."

Samuel Clark finished with a simple summary: "So, Samuel Clark isn't the person you think he is."

Victor Harris listened in a daze: "Really..." Are we talking about the same person?

William Foster, who was just pushing open the door: "..."

Brian Cooper, following behind: "..."

No one could stay calm after something like this. Brian Cooper had just pulled himself back from the brink of collapse, only to be kicked right back by Samuel Clark. Standing at the door, he said, "You, come out."

For the first time, Samuel Clark realized his own face could look this cold.
