Part 128

"That mage on the other side is low on health, someone go finish him off!"

"Healer, heal me! I'm about to die, healer, look at me!"

"Someone control that idiot for me, keep him under control!"

Everyone was shouting over voice chat, all talking at once, and no one noticed that a level five newbie account named "Please Do Not Get Addicted to Games" had been hit by several enemy skills, its health bar about to empty.

It wasn't until Xavier Stone turned on his mic and asked, "How do you use a potion?"

97. Chapter Ninety-Seven

Broken Love Cliff is a popular guild war location in "Genesis", and the reason is simple: if you really can't win, rather than die under the enemy's sword, you might as well jump off the cliff yourself.

At least you die with a bit of dignity.

This battle between the two guilds, "Class Four Kneel and Call Me Dad" and "Class Three Are All My Grandsons", quickly became a hot topic and drew a lot of attention.

"Bottom right item bar," said Henry Howard, "PE rep, hide back, if it doesn't work just jump off the cliff, Mouse, go help block for a bit, which one is Leonard Brooks on the other side? I'm going after him."

Henry Howard racked up several kills at the start, his tactics devious and his movements slick.

Luke Carter rushed up to shield the level five newbie account: "Your Old Young is already on it."

"╰→Addicted to Missing Youヤ" charged alone into the enemy ranks.

Ethan Young hadn't played this game in a long time, but Ray Jones liked to study new combos in his free time, and whenever he figured one out, he'd show off in front of him: "Boss Young, check out this move, I'm naming it Blade of Little Ray, what do you think?"

Ethan Young was merciless: "I think it's lame."

Ray Jones: ""

Leonard Brooks was tangled up by a warrior with a silly ID above his head and couldn't move, and in just five minutes, their side was down to half a team.

Back and forth, it was hard to see the surroundings for a moment, the whole screen filled with special effects.

"Low health, one hit."

Ethan Young said, and before anyone could react, added, "Dead."

Leonard Brooks had good gear, probably spent all his gaming energy on expensive equipment, so his character looked flashy, but his actual skills weren't that great.

At this point, Xavier Stone finally managed to use a potion, and after healing, unleashed several skills with almost zero damage, showing everyone the stubbornness of a level five newbie.

Twenty minutes later—

System message: ["Class Four Kneel and Call Me Dad" has defeated "Class Three Are All My Grandsons".]

The victory was exhilarating, Luke Carter's voice was almost hoarse from shouting, and at the final moment he screamed at the top of his lungs: "We won, brothers! We won!"

Ethan Young got a headache from Luke Carter's shout, instinctively reaching to pull off his headphones, but then an even louder scolding came through: "Are you trying to die? Have you finished your homework? Still playing games?"

Luke Carter's voice was so loud it brought Luke's Dad and Luke's Mom over, and as soon as they opened the door, he got a thorough scolding.

Luke Carter immediately became obedient, lowering his voice: "Mom, I'll just play ten more minutes, I swear, really."

On the other side, though, there was a parent who didn't play by the rules.

"Why aren't you playing? Play a bit more with your classmates, this game looks pretty fun. Do you want to buy some equipment? I see other kids buying stuff, if you want it, just buy it, Mom will send you money."

The entire Class Three was stunned speechless by this parent.

Then they heard Xavier Stone say helplessly, "Mom, no need, I'm not playing anymore, I have to go memorize vocabulary."

""

Luke Carter almost wanted to cry: "Why can the difference between people be so huge?"

Ethan Young rested his hand on the headphone cord, laughing along with the laughter coming through the headphones. Except for Luke Carter, who was still wailing about the unfairness of fate, everyone else was laughing uncontrollably.

He let go, still smiling, and was about to log out of the game when he saw the Class Four people making public announcements in the "World" channel.

One "A bet is a bet."

One "Sorry."

This match was originally proposed by their class, so now they could only admit defeat.

But even though they bowed their heads and apologized, the chat in Class Four's guild was nothing like that. Leonard Brooks was so angry he was pounding his keyboard, and only after hitting send did he realize he sent it to the wrong place.

A line of text suddenly appeared in "World".

"A class that always ranks last in every exam, of course they're awesome at games [/hehe]."

The conflict between the two classes had started with the basketball game, and now it was getting more and more out of hand. At this age, it's hard to control emotions.

Ethan Young's hand froze.

He was already annoyed by all this, and now seeing that line, he felt a rush of anger go straight to his head.

The Class Three group chat went quiet, until someone couldn't hold back and cursed, then everyone exploded: "What do they mean by that?!"

The Class Three students hadn't even had time to curse much before they saw a familiar, aesthetically questionable ID pop up in the "World" channel.

"╰→Addicted to Missing Youヤ": Looking for trouble?

As soon as Ethan Young sent that, another similar ID popped up.

"﹏I'm Smitten With You〆": Just wait for this midterm, open your dog eyes and see clearly, who's your daddy.

The whole class: ""

They never expected that before Xavier Stone could even say anything, the first to step up and talk tough were actually the two academic underachievers in the class.

Even though their attitude was explosive and arrogant, and somehow a bit inspiring, the Class Three students weren't blinded by this hot-bloodedness.

Logan Wright's voice was shaking: "No, I mean, you guys sound really cool, but why are you so cocky? Do you even know what you're saying?"

Wanda: "—Wake up, ah! I'm begging you two to get a grip!"

Luke Carter: "Bro Henry, people really shouldn't get too full of themselves!"

There were less than two weeks left before the midterm exams.

Since the start of the second year, there had only been one monthly exam, and in that recent exam, these two perennial bottom-rankers in the class had moved up a bit, but not by much.

The Class Three students were happy, but thinking about these two bosses' usual classroom performance, they had every reason to suspect their luck at guessing answers had just improved.

The group was so worked up that Ethan Young and Henry Howard couldn't even get a word in, and Henry Howard finally managed to say, "It's fine, even if we give them a thirty-point head start, we'd still win. Actually, me and Old Young—"

Before he could finish, the Class Three students all left the group chat.

[Logan Wright has left the voice chat].

[Luke Carter has left the voice chat].

[Ethan Young]: ?

[Luke Carter]: Goodbye, I really can't listen to this thirty-point talk anymore. Even if they give us thirty points, we probably still can't win. For the dignity of our class, I'm logging off to study.

[Wanda]: I'm going to study too.

[Logan Wright]: Study.

Only Ethan Young and Henry Howard were left in the voice chat.

Henry Howard was speechless and amused. At first, he was just angry and wanted to back up his classmates, but since the words were already out, he figured he might as well talk it out with them. He didn't expect they wouldn't even listen: "Where's the trust between people?"

After sighing, Henry Howard called out again: "Old Young."

"Yeah?"

"That plan from before, steady—"

Ethan Young quit the game, took off one side of his headphones, and interrupted: "Steady my ass."

Leonard Brooks's words were still echoing in his mind.

Ethan Young was extremely annoyed, especially fired up, and all his previous worries about being labeled a slacker were burned away by this anger. Only one thought was left in his mind: just go all out.

Henry Howard let go of the mouse and said, "Fine, let's do it."

The class group was quiet all weekend, hardly anyone spoke, and if they did, it was just to tag the class rep and ask a question, then disappear again.

"By the way, take that bag on the table to school with you when you leave later, don't forget," early Monday morning, Grace Miller put down her spoon after only a few sips of porridge and nagged, "It's the health supplements Mom bought for you, to help with your nutrition."

"Got it."

After replying, Ethan Young felt his phone vibrate twice. He checked and saw the PE rep was explaining a geometry problem to Logan Wright. He glanced at it, put his phone down, and continued eating breakfast.
